86 700R4 slipping after swap from carb to TPI
Hi guys,
I need your expert advice once again I recently pulled my 86 quadrajet and replaced it with an 89 TPI unit. As you know, this ment all new cables including a new TV cable. Earlier, i had installed a B&M transpak and the transmission shifted flawlessly. I was getting rubber in all 4 gears Now, it seems mushy after the swap. I can stall get a little chirp from first to second which is ok, but the third to fourh seems to take way too long to happen. The RPM will incease smoothly up to the shift point jump sharply durring the 2-3 shift Kind of like shifting a manual from 2-3 and very slowly engaging the clutch while throttling up... Durring the change, i replaced the fluid with B&M trick shift fluid and added some ER to the mix. I have adjusted the TV cable multipule times with no big changes... I was hoping that it might be some air trapped in the valve body, but im sure it would be gone by now if that was the case... Also, i should mention that i do seem to have a leak after the install. I replaced the gasket and retorqued the pan 3 times trying different gaskets and torque specifications to no avail. It seems like it only leaks when i turn the car off after a drive. With the fluid up to the full mark, it seems to be worse... but also seems to get better as i drive the car... Weird huh? It is tough to get a good idea of where exactally the fluid is comming from, because i have to jack up the car to get under there an look. Well, that said, What do you guys think should be my next move?
Thanks again!!!!!
