Tranny pan ...

I hit a big rock today in my 89 IROC, dented the pan, messed up the tranny mount.

The tranny operates fine, the pan isn't leaking and I don't think the dent is going to cause any serious trouble...but better safe than sorry. I needed to change the tranny fluid anyway.

My question is this: Since the pan is now questoinable, should I go ahead and swap it out for a new one? The only pans I found on summit were deep or $100+. There were two chrome stock pans that were reasonable, $40 and $30. Check out summit part number SUM-G3886.

Does anybody have experience with these? I'm worried about the finish being along the sealing edge and causing leaks, or having some of the finish on the interior that will flake off inside of the tranny.

Anybody know...

Some of the off shore chromies are thicker than the stock pan. They even have a drain plug in them. I bought one off e-bay for 12 clams. Thopught it would be crap. It was actually flat and well made.
