what SERVO and SJIFT-KIT to use???

I’m trying to figure out what to start looking into for shift kits and servos…
Do you know what is the best type of Servo and shift kit to use for a 305 TBI camaro? (700-R4). Is a Corvette Servo better or one from TCI or JET a better choice? Also, how about a Shift-Kit? TransGo makes one for 139.69, B&M has one called “Shift Improver Kit” and another one called “Transpack” for about the same price. Which setup will give me the firmest shifting? (w/o any real expensive setups)

I have the trans-go shift kit, corvette servo and boost valve. All I can say it shifts really hard. You don't even need to be in the throttle hard for the tires to break loose from the 1-2 shift.

i have a corvette servo and i already have the transgo shift kit that i need to install. but man the servo alone makes a big difference on the 1-2 shift. and its so easy to install too, took me about 30 min to do. get that first bro.

the kit comes with the servo, if I had been smarter I would have ordered ordered the kit from the get go. My car shifts much better with the vette servo alone.

Yes, the kit comes with the corvette servo

And you dont have to shift the car manually, you can if you want thought since it will hold the gear your in as long as you want.

the trango kit from www.pro-built.net comes with every thing for $148. It comes with the shift kit, the corvette servo, the .500 boost valve, the .296 intermediate boost valve, and the 1-2 accumulator setup. It is the kit Dana pieced together himself.

I have a question about the different boost valves. Do those allow you to shift into 4th at full throttle??

No, basically the larger boost valve will give you more pressure.

If you want full throttle upshift into OD you'll have to look into a sleeve and plunger upgrade for the valve body. (b4c upshift valve kit) you should find tons of info on it in a search

I work at a GM dealer and they told me I can no longer order the kit that was in the B4C because it has been discontinued... go figure

so, does the shift kit alone provide for better shifts through all the gears? or just when the car shiftes from 1st to 2nd??

Yes.
Basic TransGo Kit:
Corrects/Reduces/Prevents:
3-4 clutch failure.
Late or no 4th gear.
Soft, bang or slide bump 1-2 shift.
2-3 cutloose (spinup).
TV cable will not adjust properly.

The more expensive kit offers a larger boost valve for a little more pressure and a few other parts.

Basically the TransGo kit will firm up all shifts with the larger valve and corvette servo, let you hold 1st gear longer (won't try shifting you out of it automatically), and help prevent few things like RPM flare from 2nd to 3rd during shift. (On my OEM it was about a 300 or 400 rpm flare.)

I'll just throw a disclaimer in here that a shift kit isn't a fix for problems like slipping clutches or missing gears.

I was looking at the Transgo kit on Jegs/Summit and it goes for about $138 whereas the Probuilt kit with accumulator is $148.

Does the probuilt kit include any extra items like intermediate boost valves or is the probuilt kit the same thing as the transgo kit but with an accumulator.

Thanks.

Just give Pro-built a call. You can go to their web site and get their phone number or send them an e-mail. Dana will answer all of your questions and the answers won't be second-hand. He's been very responsive to several on this site and helped me out.
