What's the difference on when the 9 bolt and 10 bolt were used. I also have a 82 z28 and my car is at my shop trying to pick up some parts to convert the brakes. Would mine be a 10 bolt same the 82 z28 above

I believe so... the '82 Z28's with the L69 and manual trans got the same axle as the '84 T/A's w/L69 and manual trans, right? The 3.73/posi/disc rear? That one was a 10-bolt.
Not sure where the 9-bolt came in, but I think you guys should have the same rear axle. And if you've got rear disks, keep in mind the recall and recall kit: https://www.thirdgen.org/techbb2/sho...threadid=78725
Only difference between 82-83 rear axles and 84-92 rear axles is that the 82-83 brake lines have standard/SAE double-flares. 84-92 brakes use metric/ISO bubble-flare lines. That goes for 9-bolt axles, too.

i hate to tell u thing, but the 82 camaros didn't have an l69 option. I swapped that into my car, the l69 wasn't an option in the camaro until 83.
Just to clear up any confusion

Yup, no 82 L69.... it became available late in the 83 model year (like around March or so). But like the man said, with a swap, about anything is possible.
Yes the T/A and Z28 L69 drive trains for a given year were the same; however the 83 got a mechanical clutch linkage, but the 84 got hydraulics. Not all were posi or disc brake. Mine was non-posi and had aluminum drums.

Mine is an 82 z28 with an automatic and I have drum brakes. Trying to get the right pieces to change over to rear disk. I have all the stuff located for about $200 to change over to the Ls1's. My understanding is the Ls1 change is possible withe the 10bolt
