fortes tremec tko!!!
wello after taking some time and doing some research, the t5 went south and i was deciding between a t56 and tko,
i chose the tko,,, both were about $2000, didnt' need new hydrolics, transmission was NEW, not 60k+ miles, could use the same clutch flywheel ect. i have 2.73's i don't need 2 over drives! plus the tko has a 3.27 first compared to a 2.66 1st t56 so i gained some nut. 500 lbft as aposed to 400 on the t56-i BLOW TRANNIES ALL THE TIME!!!! i need every inch i can get!
FORTES' is the only way to go!!!! kit was 99.9% bolt in, need to drill a hole in the crossmember block that is supplied(no big deal) trim off some excess material to allow the electric speedo adapter to fit and modify the clamp to hold it in, and that's it. i'd say 40 minutes of time if you take ur time with the mods.
only thing i got wrong was the universal joint-u need a special one for the yoke they give ya, i had an aluminum driveshaft, they gave me one for a steel ds. but i had a steel one laying around so it was all good!
trans went right in no problems..
NOTE: these things are tight as a bear in winter when u first get them, i was afraid i had a bad one, i had the thing out a couple times double checking everything but after putting about 200 miles on it it shifts real nice, maybe just a bit tighter than the t5 but worth every penny!
FORTES- GREAT SHOP!!! they had about 50 tremecs in there, new in box's, the younger guy up there showed me all around the back of the shop, and there was only one tko that was busted(guy lit them up in 1st and slammed it into reverse) i could have spent hours shoppin in there, they had some wild stuff there,
if u are gonna spend the money, i'd rec, TKO from fortes!
