Hard shifting
I have a 1988 Camaro RS with the manual transmission. I was driving to work this morning and it was really hard to shift. It was like it meeting stops before the gears were engaged. Also, unless I held the shifter in place, it would want to pop out of gear. Not a good thing in stop and go traffic. It's never really done this before. What might be causing it. Also, just curious, my owners manual says the the Transmission fluid on the manual trans does not ever need to be changed. Is this true. Probably not. I would think that it needs to be changed just like the differential oil. Thanks Guys.

As far as I know, it's never been rebuilt. It's a V6 car BTW. I don't know if I am ready to accept that it just needs a rebuild, since this is the first time it's happened. Didn't even slowly lead up to this, just all of the sudden BAM!!! Thanks for the suggestion though. Is there a way to drain and refill the fluid???

Well, it's warmed up a little here in So. Cal. and stopped raining. It stopped the hard shifting for the most part as soon as it stopped raining. Weird, huh? Once in a while it doesn't want to go into gear, but 98% of the time it's fine now. Could bad transmounts do this by not making the sifter line up inside the trans?
