Extremely delayed 4th gear shift
Hey everyone. I just got a new 700R4 that's supposed to be very stout. It should have a fairbanks shift kit in it. 1st 2nd and 3rd gear are timed correctly, but 4th gear takes a long time to get into and most of the time, driving around town it wont even go in 4th. Do I need to adjust the TV cable ? What else could be causing this ?

It could be the tv cable. I'll let the others explain that.
I have the same problem with my 700, I wanted later wot shifts so I installed lighter governor weights, wot shifts are right where I want them but it also raised only the fourth gear part throttle shift. It shifts into fourth at 55mph. I've learned to live with it.
Didn't have that problem in the old 700 that used to be in my car with a transgo kit. That kit does something to the valve body so you have to maually shift it to fourth if you want it later, and it allows you to hold fourth at wot also, without the special tv sleeve. Need more input from the trans pros to solve your problem.

At WOT it shifts by itself at around 6500. From what I know it has an S-10 governer on it ? Mine shifts into OD at around 65mph. It's extremely annoying. Think if I get a different governer it would help alleviate the problem at least ?
