mystery electrical interference

I seem to have this mystery electrical interference where the radio cuts in and out every couple seconds and i just can't figure out what it is. This is on an L98 TPI but is the first time running in this car so i have nothing to compare to. If you turn the radio on it will work fine for a couple or few minutes, but then it will start cutting in and out every few seconds.

THis is not a clicking noise that is supposedly the typical ignition related noise.

I thought for sure it was the fuel pump wire that i had to run under the dash from C100 over to the computer area to reconnect to the dash harness since it used to come in the car by the computer.......but no go, still interference. I just finished swapping in the original rusty ignition coil and took out the more pwerful hypertech one with again no results. I spread out the spark plug wires with dividers as well. Plugs, wires, cap and rotor are all new.

Any ideas? THis has me stumped.

Re: mystery electrical interference

Does the radio cut in and out if the engine is not running?

This should probably be posted in the Electronics section and not TPI.
Could a Mod possibly move this thread to the appropriate section? Thanks!

No, it does not cut in and out when the engine is off.

Sorry, wasn't sure which forum to put it in.

Re: mystery electrical interference

Sounds like you could have a grounding problem. Check your engine grounds to the firewall and then check your grounds at the radio and the amps (if any). May want to put a ground wire from the radio chassis to a body ground. Does your tape player or cd cut in and out also, or just the radio? Thinking maybe an antenna issue? HTH!

Well, the engine is new to the car so all grounds were thoroughly cleaned and put in place to the block and block to firewall and block to battery, as well as battery to body.

No amps, but yes, it cuts in and out with the cd as well as the radio.
