Car is in storage. Been spending my winter buying parts I need for my car. I'm a little confused on the valve seals I need for my car. Is this the right part # I need for my stock 89 350 TPI. Felpro SS72527. I read I could possibly use these on the exhaust as well. Any input or options for better seals. Will be doing both intake and exhaust seals

the idea is to use the very best valve stem seals for the application. I will point out that if you have valve guide wear, NO seal will be any good. and secondly the intake valve seals are the most important ones. sorry I don't have a part number for you. but I use fel pro stem seals. the kind that fit around the guide. they work very well

Thanks for reply. Not sure if theirs wear or not. It's got 32,000 miles on it. Was a garage queen before I bought it last year. I agree to use the best seals possible. That's why I'm asking. I'm new to these cars and not sure.
Any one else care to comment about using the felpro SS72527 seals for both intake and exhaust valves. Or is their better if so part numbers would really help me out.

When you take the spring off the valve, pull the valve open maybe a half inch and wiggle side to side. you should have a slight wobble. very minimal, like a tho, maybe 2. (.001 to .002) I dont know the exact speck for your heads but I use that as a rule of thumb. If they are very loose I recommend K-liners. A brass liner that goes in the guide. A machine shop will have to install unless you have the tools to do it. There is a ton of different valve seals to choose from. I would research what works best on your style heads and valves. Deff dont put on those cheesy rubber ones.

My valve stems have a o ring grove below the keeper, think that's what he ment. Don't bother with those. I went the felpro rout, very happy with the results. Part # seems right, blue rubber on intake plastic umbrella for exhaust. Mine were killed by age, full rebuild 350 that sat for 12 years. Not sure about running intake seals on exhaust, I'm happy with the set up I have so I stopped digging for info.

excatly what 85 special said. the good ones are a little tougher with a oring around the top and they kind of snap on. very cheep insurance. the cheesy ones are one piece soft rubber umbrella type. I will look for a pic to post!

Another idea is call your local head shop and ask them. im sure they have oodles of them.

I have used seals on both intake & exhaust . some will say it's a waste/not required . maybe so , they are cheap , easy to install , hurt nothing , why not . I even installed seals on all valves on a NEW G.M. crate engine I put in my car . just my thoughts , good luck .

Aside from the seals, is their anything else I should replace while I'm in their ? Will be installed with heads on the car
