Vac leak??? Help!

Ok got a funny one. Last week my Car stranded me. After getting it home and tearing apart the distributor I found my ballast resistor exploded. Never would have believed it unless I had seen it. But that's not my issue replaced cap and rotor and all is well there. Just thought I'd share that little tid bit.

So my distributor is new again, herd a sound like a leaky compressor hose from the cab. Found a exhaust leak on the passenger side so I replaced my exhaust gaskets. The hiss is still there. Intake and plenum are very tight, all vac lines are good and I still have a hiss and no top end. It idles great, sometimes need to tap the throttle to get it to start but over all not bad, think the timing is a bit high at 10 degrees think I'm going to set it back to 6. The noise increases with rpm and totally has me baffled. I hear it from the cab and can't from the engine bay. Any ideas? It makes no sense I have a vintage air gen IV and no vac lines into the cab of the car. So either I'm deaf or overlooking something.

Re: Vac leak??? Help!

Ok so fixed the timing still no change. Runs a little better but still no top end. Whole damn ignition system is new. Only thing I have in it that is not stock is a MSD coil, thinking that's why the button blew? But anyway I still have no clue where that sucking noise is, and if I get anything tighter I'm going to be breaking bolts. Double checked vac lines and no dice. Only idea I have left is a clogged cat... But it starts too easy for that to make sense. Plus it's a 3 inch magna-flow and it's not even 6 months old.

Re: Vac leak??? Help!

Ok so I readjusted the IAC properly and double checked the TPS and the sucking noise is gone. However I'm running really rich still. I did clean the o2 sensor with MAF cleaner, a no no I understand. I'm thinking though I may have a leaky cold start injector. I'm guessing to test my theory I remove the injector bolt move it back a bit and turn the ignition on and look for fuel. The injector should not fire till the engine is cranking right? I'm planning on replacing the o2 sensor tomorrow. Headers are sealed with brand new gaskets so rich run should be o2 or injector leaks right? MAF seems ok, no wild idle. Rest of the injectors are reman bosh III from South Bay, so I'm figuring #9 is the trouble. Or was there a problem with the MAF relay box for 85?
