New Accel Injector Sets - Your Opinions Please
I am getting a new set of injectors for my TPI.
I was looking at a set of Accel 150819.
3. How are Accel injector quality? Garbage or good deal? I'm looking at Accel because they are cheaper than Bosch (maybe for a reason).
4. If you changed your injectors what brand did you use and price did you pay?
Thanks everyone!!

Ok. How did you determine it was bad? And what set was it?
Anyone else want to chime in?

Re: New Accel Injector Sets - Your Opinions Please
Hey guys never mind the previous questions.
After reading up on factory stock 305 TPI injectors I need the 19lb set (the ACCEL 150819).
http://www.chevyhiperformance.com/te...mall_block_v8/
And according to Summit Racing
http://www.summitracing.com/parts/ac...model/firebird
you should not 'upgrade' your factory injectors:
'To correctly choose a performance fuel injector flow rate, the following variables must be known: ·Brake-specific fuel consumption (How much fuel you are using per horsepower per hour) ·Actual crankshaft horsepower ·Maximum injector duty cycle ·System fuel pressure at the fuel rail Remember that installing larger flow injectors only has technical merit if substantial modifications have been made to the entire induction system. Determining the right amount of injector fuel flow is only part of the injection selection process. You also have to match the injector's operating parameters to your Electronic Control Unit. Operating parameters include both the injector driver style (peak-hold or saturated-circuit) and the resistance required to pulse the injector. Failure to properly match the injectors to the ECU can result in slower delivery rate, overheating of the injector or fuel injector driver, and even engine damage! When installing performance fuel injectors with larger flow rates, it may be necessary to recalibrate the mass airflow sensor and/or reprogram the vehicle's ECU.'

Re: New Accel Injector Sets - Your Opinions Please
Hey in that article I linked in my previous post it mentions there is a 9th fuel injector????
http://www.chevyhiperformance.com/te...mall_block_v8/
'GM revised the TPI plenums as well. All plenums feature an EGR passage, but the '85-'88 plenums are cast with an additional cold-start passage controlling a ninth fuel injector.'
Is this confirmed true? I need to buy one additional injector???

Re: New Accel Injector Sets - Your Opinions Please
You only need 8 injs. The 9th is completely different.
Try southbay a sponsor on here, they have replacement TPI injs at a great price.
Don't just throw a new/bigger set in unless you need to.

Re: New Accel Injector Sets - Your Opinions Please
We have heard that the Accel injectors have had some problems. If I were you, I'd get a set of 19lb Bosch lll's no questions asked. They are one of the most reliable injectors out there.
