tpi setup should i buy it ?

My buddy has a whole TPI setup he said he would sell me for 150$ it all bone stock stuff but its everything .. throttle body, plenum, base, runners, rails, injectors, sensors etc. Should I buy it ? I know it would prooly b pretty worthless on my motor seeing as my motor really don't start pulling till above 3k but could I sell it for more ? Or could I do something to it to make it work good to 6000rpm where I currently shift ? Thanks !

Compare the pricing in the For sale Dept to see if it is a " deal " and you can make $$$ selling it

You don't list your cam specs, but a TPI is better matched with a 1500-5000 cam instead of 3k-6k you mention. Also, your 4.10 gears are not a great match. It will still work, just not as well as other combinations.

Other than that: I like the TBI to multi-port injection switch. If that $150 includes wiring and ECM, then even if you don't like the TPI powerband, you can replace the manifold with a HSR or even a carb style with injector bungs, and still be money ahead.

My can is advertised 1500-5500 but I got it in a 305 .. so it actually pulls fairly well fromm 2000 up but it really comes alive about 4700-6k ... specs are 214/218@.050 268/270 adv. .488/.495 lift but I use 1.6rr so its more like .520/.528 lift on 114 LSA

91' bird 305 TBI T-5, trick flow heads, 4.10 gears, full UMI setup, track times coming soon!

That is well within the range of cams recommended to work with a TPI intake. There isn't anything wrong with TPI. But, there are better manifolds, read: higher HP potential. I stand by my previous statement: I like the port over TBI upgrade. And for $150, it will get you there cheap. And, if you want a higher HP manifold, this will be a cost effective stepping stone... Especially since your sig says you already have a TPI pump in your tank.

Cool .. right now I'm running a carb dual plane intake with TBI adapter ..... my only concern is that if I do go tpi that it won't pull hard to 6K as it does now .. the upper rpm's is where this little motor really starts to shine .. and I know that I would prolly pick up 20ft lbs below 4000 I feel like it would fall on its face around 5k

I have not driven a TPI engine with a non-stock cam, so I cannot speak to exactly how much the TPI manifold with long, small runners will choke off the upper RPM.

Re: tpi setup should i buy it ?

I'd prefer port injection over tbi, but if you're revving to 6k.....skip the tpi. Just head for a different manifold if you want port. And don't get me wrong, I love my tpi, just not for revving high. It'll take a lot more money and work to get back to those rpm. Mine, unported and on a 350 with a similar cam, stops gaining power at 4450 rpm.....just a fact of harmonics.

Re: tpi setup should i buy it ?

Isn't that pretty much what I said? All things being equal, where your 350 falls off at 4450rpm, the LO3 305 will rev to 5100rpm.

Even if the OP spends $150 for the TB, injectors, sensor, harness, ECM, etc, and throws the aluminum parts (manifold base, runners and plenum) into the trash, he is money ahead to use all those parts on a stealth ram, or an Edelbrock Victor E or Super Victor or PP Hurricane.
