K&N filter on TPI

Would anyone know the part number for a K&N air filter for a TPI 305? Preferably the filter that bolts to the throttle body directly, not a factory replacement, or does it even exist?
I've tried to look on online and I must be looking in the wrong spots

Any help would be great, thanks

I wouldn't do it though. You would be sucking in all the hot air from the engine bay.

Re: K&N filter on TPI

I think gutting the airbox under the air filters is a better choice. I'm just debating about keeping the aftermarket filters or going back to stock ones.

I gutted my box and use two sets of KN filters. Bought one set new for everyday and another set used as a spare set just in case.

Supposedly it reduces your e.t. by two tenths of a second in 1/4 mile, pulling in the hot hair, but I have ceramic coated headers, which reduces temperatures by a lot! They make two models, one that I use, & a bigger one.

That's a good idea. I was speaking of whether stock air filters or aftermarket like k&n filters were better. I was doing some research about how the k&n filters are better flowing, thereby they let more moisture and dust into the TB and so on. At least that's what i read in a couple threads here. I have aftermarket filters right now that I want to clean but I don't want to damage the engine if I don't do it properly, so I'm thinking of switching back to OEM factory filters to protect the engine.

It's not so much header heat as it's the air blowing through the rad.

It's not difficult to clean them properly. Just takes time. When I cleaned mine I washed it using the cleaner twice. Let it dry for a day. Then sprayed the oil in the recommended amounts and let that dry for 2 days. Never had a problem. I have a spare Specter filter so I can take as long as I want.

Re: K&N filter on TPI

Well I like the K&N on my Camaro and being carb'd, seems to run great with it. Now on my 2001 Explorer Sport I put in a stock paper filter as I noticed the sensor filament kept getting dirty. Can't say it was from K&N, but problem solved once the paper filter went back on.

Re: K&N filter on TPI

I suppose if I take my time then I shouldn't have a problem. I still have yet to completely gut the airbox as well, took off only one piece of the silencers on each side.

Re: K&N filter on TPI

Gut the boxes, it was the difference between barely chirping the tires on the 1-2 shift, and breaking them loose in my old lb9 5 speed '88 IROC. BTW, I never had any issues w/ the K & N filters.

Re: K&N filter on TPI

I have gutted my air box and added in "ram scoops" behind the fog lights and haven't noticed any difference on how quickly they get dirty. i am impatient when it comes to letting the filters dry. i leave them out for an hour or two after trying to get most of the water out. i've never had a problem with dirty sensors or anything. this is on a variety of motors from duramax to volt. the little tiny bit of moisture left in there is less than what the engine is sucking in on a humid/rainy day.

Re: K&N filter on TPI

I'm servicing my K&N filters now and see two cresent shaped baffels in the box with 2 screws each.... to gut the air box you remove these ?

Thank's

Edit .. I found this https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/tpi/...ke-box-vs.html

I think I'll just remove the fins......

Re: K&N filter on TPI

The best choice you make is to remove the two baffles you have identified, then cut out the bottom of the filter housings. You will feel this when you drive.
