How long can fuel injectors sit??
I appologize now if this has been covered, but I'm at work and not supposed to be on this website.. Hehe.. Long story short my Camaro (L98) has been sitting since 2003, and I back then had installed some new Accel 24lbs fuel injectors. Before I stored the car I ran some Sta-Bil through it. Now I'm going to drain the tank and install a new fuel filter but wondering if I should have the injectors sent off to be cleaned or do you guys think they would be fine to run? Thanks!

2003???? Absolutely! Sta-Bil is not going to the job 10 years later! Clean out your entire fuel system, change your filter and get your injectors professionally cleaned and flow tested. If you want, you can send them to us. $15 per injector 24 hour turnaround

After you get the injectors back from Southbay, install them and run them pronto. I had let a set of injectors sit for over a year before I installed them. Most of them gummed up and plugged while they sat. Nothing like doing a job twice.
The longest I've left Sta-Bil in a tank of fuel was close to three years in one of my motorcycles. Poured it in the tank, filled it up and ran i for awhile and let the carbs run dry.
The bike started up and ran fine. The weird thing that happened was I only got around 80 miles out of 4.5 gallons of fuel. It might stabilize the fuel but there's not a lot of "ooomph" left in it.

I had the same issue, got my engine out of an old guys garage, sat for god knows how long. I blocked off the return line with a bolt and thread tape, poured chevron techron in the rail, and put it on the tip of the injectors with a cue tip. Hooked the pressure side back up and cranked it over, took about 5 mins or less and they all popped open. Let em sit over night then did it again in the mourning, they all still had a nice spray pattern to them. I may have risked my fuel pump and maybe some other stuff I'm not aware of but my Lt ran for a year until now when my opti crapped out on me.

Awesome, thanks for the info guys.. I'll get them torn out of the car and sent off.. Which would be better to use, the Accels or the original fuel injectors??
