Which first, the runners or the intake?

Dont have the budget at the moment for both. Which should I do first? Which would I see more gains from?

Re: Which first, the runners or the intake?

You won't see much gain with one or the other. If you can do a little porting, I'd gasket match the stock intake, take out the "rim" at the runner inlet, and clean up the casting a bit on the stock intake. That along with porting the plenum and adding after-market runners would show a noticeable improvement. Depending on your porting capability or desire to do it yourself,,, it is possible to port a stock base intake to flow as much as,, even a little more,,, than a box stock after-market base.

Saying that, depending on your stall speed and cam,,,, the StealthRam might be a good alternative.

from someone who has been the route, I would choose neither...will not much much bang for your buck... im looking at your mods and they are nice.... if you really like the "tpi" setup then I would get a FIRST intake.... its like a tpi on steroids...

I would go with the stealth ram and transfer your stuff over. Cost about the same as the runners would new and lots more bang for the buck. Or a mini ram

You know,,, I've run a fully ported stock base with ported SLP runners (ran 12.9s), the FIRST (12.5s), and a StealthRam (12.6s) on the same car - no other changes. I had a 3000 stall speed converter and 3.23 gears. I preferred the FIRST, but it cost more than the other two combinations (it's not any more expensive than an aftermarket TPI base, runners, and throttle body though).

However, with 3.73 gears and a little more stall speed,,, even if money is tight,,, I think if I were you, I'd skip the SLPs and save up for the StealthRam.
