auto tpi350 vs manual tpi305? What have you beat?

My first post!!!
Well, just that question... I'm a beginner with f-bodys. Falling in love with the torque of the Tuned Port Injection (and accepting finally that I don't have a 350 but a 305 ) was just wondering as any novice would . How much faster is one (a350) or the other (m305)... stock for stock?.. Also, just for fun!! What cars have you beat with your 350tpi or 305
Thank you for any answers.. I am just looking for knowledge from this platform as I have fallen in love with all f-bodys.. especially the TPI

the 350 swap is 100% worth it if you plan on pushing the engine past 320~ hp

300-350hp is doable on a 305 but if you want any higher than that its a crutch whereas the 350 would still be in it's "entry-level" horsepower range

stock these cars will beat 18 wheelers, pedestrians, some bicycles, they have fun off-the-line torque but nothing after that and the displacement doesn't really matter, they're both tuned down as much as possible

Re: auto tpi350 vs manual tpi305? What have you beat?

Ive got a 87 IROC 350 auto. Trick flow heads, msd ignition, etc. If you are planning on building your motor don't forget to install sub frame connectors. These cars have a tendency to do the twist. I've beat a few cars and been beat by a few. After all the work I've put into it, I don't race much any more. Too much blood, sweat, and money into it and I didn't buy it to race anyway.

Re: auto tpi350 vs manual tpi305? What have you beat?

if i had to keep the car totally stock id take the manual 305, theres only like a 20 hp 305/350 gap for the mid 80s models and the torque vs horsepower ratio of the TPI motors is just asking for a manual to take advantage (fun, gas mileage)

if the ideal 350/manual combo is your objective then the car you start out with may come down to whats easier for you to acquire: a 350 that will bolt onto the tpi with minimal grief or a manual transmission conversion

i started with a 305 auto so both!
