Re: Need some help/tips on 305 Tpi

alot of people are going to say this and i will be one of them but why build up a 305 when you could beuild a 350 for alot cheaper. I am building one right now and so far i am in the whole about 250 bucks. That is the 250 dollars 1990 corvette 5.7l block some free heads and thats just to start. would be alot easier and alot cheaper in the end

Iam not like most people....My opinion is that everyone has a built 350 but hardly anyone has a built 305...My car isnt going to be a drag car or anything like that i just want a engine that has alittle more power than a stock 305. this car is mainly going to be a weekend car or for long highway trips.

I understand what you are saying. You can build a mild decent performing 305 tpi motor that does what you are looking for. The big problem with the most 305's from the factory was the "peanut cam". A 305 with a 350 cam installed will run almost as fast as a 350 car. Personally, I would do a basic rebuild on your bottom short block of your motor and then add a set of World SR Torquer 305 Heads and a Crane 2032 compucam and call it a day. This setup will probably require little to no tuning and will really run great. If you like you can also upgrade your TPI intake manifold and runners with some nice Edelbrock pieces and you will have a nice performing car that it still great on gas and the highway. Enjoy!

Im with burnout on this. If you're not looking for huge power, there's alot you can do with the 305.

Re: Need some help/tips on 305 Tpi

Injector size depends on expected power output. I don't remember the equation but you can find it on TPIS's website. You will need to have some idea of expected HP. Injector output is also affected by pressure. Once you arrive at a lb/hr nozzle size, you can adjust actual output by tweaking pressure. Of course if you make many changes in the motor, you'll want to retune the ECM.
