NEED HELP TPI RETROFIT

ok, i have a 70s 400 sbc block, with procomp 210 cc aluminum heads. a very budgeted build, and i cant afford the stealth ram right now..

My question is.. is there any way i can make the factory tpi work, because my intake ports are visible with the tpi base on.. or does anyone make a base intake to fit these heads? will post pics if your not following me

Re: NEED HELP TPI RETROFIT

I don't know a whole lot about the TPI world, but I read a couple places where you weld some material to the edge of the intake to cover up the gap between the intake and head. I'd imagine it would work if you could make the added piece nice and flat where it mates to the head. I would also say you would probably have to do a little bit of grinding on the added piece to blend in to the original port of the intake. It all makes sense in my head and know it could work, I'm not all that good at explainig without pics. Don'tknow if it is worth the trouble or time, but like my dad always told me "what do you have more of, time or money?" Hope this helps some.

Yes some weld and raise the injector bungs so they sit higher. Now not positive you may be able to leave the bungs alone but the injector will be a bit more in the path of airflow.

You need a Vortec base to match the ports in the heads

Seeing as you have no money for the correct Vortec TPI base or a Vortec HSR; buy a cheap Vortec carb manifold and put a carb on it so it at least runs .
Most likely make more power than a stock TPI on a 406

Welding ports and machining would probably blow the same budget as a new intake anyway unless you can do it yourself
