383 HSR build

ok guys well i have a 1991 z28 TPI speed density with a built 700r4, hooker shortie headers, bbk underdrive pulleys, and a bbk afpr. i am in the process of getting alot of information on building my 350 TPI to a HSR 383. i wanna built it for Nitrous!!!..i have been recommended a lot of parts by some of the users here in this site so this is wat i have in mind oh and please feel free to recommend me any parts that i would need or anything that would help me do my build....

i am thinking of going with this eagle 383 setup from summit
http://www.summitracing.com/parts/ESP-B12111030/

HSR & fuel rail... http://www.summitracing.com/parts/WND-7540/

a 255 walbro fuel pump, some 30 or 36# injectors(still not sure)
a wideband o2 sensor(if someone can recommend me one with a link would help) a kirban performance afpr http://www.kirbanperformance.com/pro...R+%236547.html
AFR 195cc- 65cc with L98 angle plug and the 8019 valve spring upgrade
xr288hr with 110 or 112 LSA and probly 1.6 rockers on the intake and 1.5 on the exhaust (wat do u all think still thinking about wat cam to go with)
some LS7 lifters (maybe some one can recommend me others)

hopefully this month i can start ordering parts in still deciding wat to go wiht or not and i will be posting pics of my parts i get in and also build pics! well feel free to recommend parts or things i should be aware of...thanks in advance

UPDATE*** i have decided that i wanna run a procharger on my car. i still wanna run the 195cc afr's and the HSR..i am deciding that i wanna stay with my bottom end for now since i recently rebuilt it about 16,000miles ago lol..im thinking of running the afr heads with the HSR and just slapping the procharger on there..wat do u all say?!?!?!?!....wat cam and 383 setup would u all recommend me to run some boost on this motor?!?! thanks in advance!

Re: 383 HSR build

the HSR rails are a rip off... but they are plug and play
I made up my rails with FAST
and converted my Holley AFPR and tapped to except an lines
you should get a 58mm TB the 383 will need it
you diff will need gears.. and I would install C clip eliminators
what about the 700r4 that is going to need serious HELP

How much?
That will determine if you need a forged crank of not

If you are going to spray on a regular basis you install a NOS cam.Much more exhaust timing to let gases out

Re: 383 HSR build

I hope you have selected a 4 bolt main block
or better yet convert your 2 bolt to a 10* splayed 4 bolt
I would look for a better crank like callies and billet steel caps
I would select real forged pistons and rods
especially if your spraying

I have herd Eagle you get what you pay for... China made
the machine work will be around $900.00
I'm in the middle of making a 383

Re: 383 HSR build

similar to my build in my sig.the motor can be a handfull and i consider this a mild 383.you can safely spray a 100shot..maybe 150 even stock..just not too often without doing anything except retard the timing a lil.i do wish i went a lil more aggressive on the cam torque wise but my midrange and upper rpm power is very nice..and surprisingly smooth.i working on getting a burnout vid once i fix my tranny but here are some vids of the car to give you an idea of what your in for. just be prepared that with an lsa in the 110-113 range on speed density can be a whoore to tune sometimes but it will give you a lil more power peak.I havent even taken my car too 6000 rpm yet because it is alot of fun..only been to 5200.

Re: 383 HSR build

that cam should be fine for what you want to do and will take some spray.110 lsa might not agree with the ecm for tuning..112 will be easier on speed density...other than that

Re: 383 HSR build

you can reuse everything if you want.some might say to use the stock oil pump but change to a high volume pickuptube etc. the waterpump is your choice..nothing wrong with using stock but if you are worried about overheating and not having adequate cooling of the motor then use a high flow waterpump for added insurance,im still using my stock waterpump without issues but i do plan on changing it soon to a high flow unit because my stock waterpump is very old and crusty looking lol..and the price difference between a new stock unit and a performance unit isnt much at all.

Re: 383 HSR build

I would not use a old Oil pump or water pump
drop 8lb off the front with a Aluminum High flow water Pump $45.00 ebay

your car with headers, head & cam will get hot!!!! use a high flow water pump
PS install a spring inside the bottom hose or it will collapse the HOSE....

oil pump new build New pump... I like using HV / HP and install a stock spring
