xfi 268 and ls lifters?
Im in the process of rebuilding a 1992 350, and I will be using the xfi 268 cam. What are the pros or cons to using these http://www.jegs.com/i/GM+Performance...99225/10002/-1? Comp cams lifters are the other option but are more expensive. I have afr 180's and siamesed and ported tpi so I plan on taking it to atleast 5500 to 6000

Re: xfi 268 and ls lifters?
Im rebuilding my engine and and I have the xfi 268 cam can can I use the these? http://www.jegs.com/i/GM+Performance...99225/10002/-1 Comp cams llifters are the other option but are more expensive. please list any other options, if any
any other option will be roughly the same aside from the price, id just get the ls lifters and call it a day.
the hot ticket used to be using the ls7 lifters, but for whatever reason the price skyrocketed....some say/ive read that the ones you posted are the same thing, but im not sure.

jegs and summit both have a roller "rebuild kit" for like 100
comes with all 16 link bars, spider retainer and the hardware, i think the summit kit even includes cam lobe/pushrod/rocker lube.

yes those lifters will work just fine.

Re: xfi 268 and ls lifters?
Don't waste your money on any other lifter. The GM part listed above is very very good. Only if you need something like the Morrels($$$$) for a race motor would I consider something different.
By the way I will be running TPI and AFR 195 heads. I expect to be well past 400rwhp with the new motor and deep 11's at the track.

Its not your ordinary TPI
I am using LS7 lifters on my turbo motor and have used the same ones on my 383 HSR motor. I turned 6800-7000 on occassion as well with heavy spring pressures and no problems that I can tell. Quality lifter for 120 bucks.

Re: xfi 268 and ls lifters?
You are correct in that I'm staying with the TPI because of the California smog laws. However what you don't realize is I have one of those hi-flowing TPI intake systems including a First intake manifold on the base that flows well North of 300cfm.
My current 355 motor has made 380rwhp with an unlocked Yank SS3600 torque converter on the chasis dyno. My new 369CI motor made 535HP on an engine dyno with a not so good flowing Victor Jr. The Victor Jr flowed from 250 to 280 cfm depending on the ports. That motor will be going into the car pretty soon.
I will turn on my signature.

You really have no idea what he's actually running It will do 400whp or be very very close.

Re: xfi 268 and ls lifters?
Yep, just an incredible modded 'TPI' even tho its no longer a long tube runner design
It should have alot of people scratching their heads, looking for that hidden nitrous shot....but they wont find it haha.
If you wish to pull alot of rpms, there are the caddy race lifters, good to 8500 I think. 250-300 bucks, still a great bargin. Think they still make them.

"can you use any stock "tpi" stuff with the first"
No. I had to modify a set of SLP runners so that they would bolt up to the First. Then of course you can use the factory plenum at that point. By the way with the current motor I'm shifting at 6500rpm and with the new motor I expect to shift in the 6800 to 7000rpm range depending dyno graph. Using the LS-7 factory lifters.
