Factory 350 Y-pipe oil pan clearance?

Does anybody have any secret fixes for a tight fit in this area? I am putting a 305 in a 1986 t/a but using the manifolds and entire exhaust from a 1988 l98 car.
The pipe that goes across is fully tight to the bottom of the oil pan. The front, top of the sump. It follows the radius there exactly on my truck oil pan and the 91 305 pan (the same) and my chrome cheapy is a full 1'' to straight in that spot.
It appears the y-pipe bolts will just pull the pipe snug to the pan touching it.
Anybody ever run across this before?

I guess some aftermarket oil pans wont clear that pipe setup. can you just use the stock 305 style pan or does it hit that too?

Re: Factory 350 Y-pipe oil pan clearance?

Thanks for the reply. Both of the 305 pans I have are the same and as it is, it will be touching if I snug down the bolts tight enough to seal at the manifold flange.
It is very well matched where they hit so I would have to dent it allot.
I seem to remember on my wifes 87 GTA it is pretty close there too, but not touching.
I did not want to buy a good pan for a stock 305 but just for the heck of it, is there a good aftermarket pan for these?
I suppose most run headers when they are at that level.

Or maybe the l98 pans are a little more creased in the corners?

You can try to pick up an aftermarket pan but not sure what is available that would fix your problem.

A shorty header/ypipe combo could work well but more expensive to do that but its nice for performance and sound.

Other alternative is to just cut the ypipe abit and weld in a small extension to move it off the pan alittle.

The moroso pan for a fact won't make it better so if anything, don't buy that. There's no room for any decent sized pipe at all.
