NEED HELP WITH ROCKER ID
am looking to purchase some used crane 1.5 rockers - cheap. problem is the guy keeps telling me things that conflict.
he says the part number is p273.
they are supposed to be thin body for the center bolt - full rollers - but non self aligning. the closest that i can come are these http://store.summitracing.com/partde...ew=1&N=700+150+
but the alleged part number of p273 does not equate with those at summit.
anyone recognize these and would you use non aligning rockers with a head and pushrods designed for self aligning rockers?
pic's attached.

Re: NEED HELP WITH ROCKER ID
Those look like Non-Self-Aligning rockers (2nd Picture). You have to have something to locate the Rocker. That means either Self-Aligning rockers, or non-self-aligning rockers with guideplates, or non-self-aligning rockers with cylinder heads that locate the pushrod via the pushrod hole. You don't want two conflicting methods either..
Using these rockers on an engine designed for Self-Aligning rockers will mean that there will be nothing to keep the rocker from sliding off of the valve.

Re: NEED HELP WITH ROCKER ID
thanks for that info - i was thinking that way myself - but what the heck is a p273 for a part number? and if i get non self aligning i will have to install guide plates and also change my push rods to something that will not wear rubbing against the plate - probably not a good idea, i am trying to keep it simple.
thank you
thank you

Re: NEED HELP WITH ROCKER ID
You are correct on both counts, if you use those, you will have to use guide-plates, which will subsequently require the use of hardened pushrods...

Re: NEED HELP WITH ROCKER ID
i was only going to use 8 for the exhaust but i want self aligning ones so i dont have to buy different stuff.
i just want 1.6 for the intake and 1.5 for the exhaust, but they have to be skinny for center bolt too.
but i appreciate your pointing that out - i could have missed it. this is new ground for me when it comes to all the different rockers. 1.5 - 1.6 - 447/510 cam - computing different lift and spring limit to 530 and heads that max out at about 470 and shims - offset clips - darn that is a lot of math for an old man!
i am pretty lucky to have people like you and the others to help me out because i would never have known the correct answer to all that.
now i know that what i need is thin rockers - did not know that one until i was told - and i got the numbers on the cam v lift - i was told that - got max springs stats on zz4 springs - i was told that - it goes on and on and this is board and the people on it have kept me looking in the right direction.
thanks to everyone.
