Look for around 5-7 HP with any of them. They all do the same thing -straighten out incoming airflow into TB. Find the cheapest one you can get. I run the TPIS unit on my 350 TPI and didn't notice much of any improvement.(I bought it used for $35 shipped)

Air foils make a great paperweight..they gain ZERO HP and do nothing..dont waste your money on one.
I followed a few threads of some serious 1/4 mile bracket racers and they tried the variousiproducts and stuffs on the market ..no 1/4 mile gains at all.
The stock TPI flows enough VE of air for a 305 and even supplies enough for a 350 engine albeit with a low peak torque line.A air foil isnt goint to change pressure in the engine.
When you can draw/add or force more air into a motor and change the pressure in there, you can make power that way.

Or you could be a kook like me and make a homemade airfoil w/ epoxy putty. Just fill in the area between the blades and don't forget to leave good sized holes for the IAC and PCV vent.
Much cheaper than buying one and i'm sure it's worth the same gain (slim to none)

I recognized a zero gain but I already knew that. I put one on because it gave it a finished look, kinda' like something GM shoulda' done in the first place. I got a new SLP for 29.00.

I have a Hypertech airfoil (basically a TPIS piece) and did not notice any SOTP but the throttle response was much more crisp than with out it.

My opinion is if you can get one free or next to nothing, then get it.
If you gotta go pay the money for a brand new one then save the money for other mods...its not worth the price.
I got mine from Modern Musclecars going out of business sale. I bought a LT1 throttle body that had it for $20 then sold the TB on here for $60.
I love deals like that. Got paid $40 for using that airfoil

I bought the Comp Cams one thatis made of plastic. It fits nicely into the throttlebody, and the piece that fits into the back of the throttlebody to hold the piece you actually see does not seem to line up with anything.
I called Comp Cams, the first guy I spoke to told me that he would NEVER own a Chevy because they were to slow... And he didn't know Jack. (keep in mind he WORKS for Comp cams as a tech), At least he sent me to someone who was familiar with the product.
This guy spoke about something that you take out of the throttlebody and relpace it with the piece they sent with it. HUH, look I am no Rocket scientist, but from what I can tell there is nothing to remove to put this stupid thing in. I might have misssed something, but I have three Stock Throttlebodies, two 87's and one 89, and, ahem..sir I think you are smoking something.
I am sending it back.
Unless one of you knows what the heck is going on, and help me.

You have to take the top cover off the TB to put that little tit with threads in.
If you take the top plate off (say Tuned Port Injection on it) you will see right in the middle a hole. Drop that tit down in the hole with the threads facing towards the front of the TB.
NOW YOU GOT SOMETHING TO SCREW IT INTO
If I didn't explain it good enough, I'll draw you a pic and e-mail it to you.

Thankfully the rest of the company is not as moronic as this idiot. A quick glance through their latest catalog tells me they make more different cams for different Chevy engines than they do for all other brands combined. Hmmm, wonder why that is?

Considering any airfoil you buy will cost you $30 - $60 for something that costs the manufacturer less than $5, and is unlikely to give you a noticeable gain, I'd say spend the money elsewhere.
Like a good set of plugs. Or an oil change. Or a good set of plugs and an oil change!

I bought a TPIS airfoil and even with 200,000+ miles on my engine I noticed a definite throttle response increase and the car pulls harder from 3500 to 5 grand and I'm sure it'd pull much farther than 5 grand if not for my ****ty stock ignition and stock cam that cuts off at 5!

I don't remember the magazine or the test but I did see one where they used a Holley air foil and it did give them a HP and TQ increase at the rear wheels, not much, less than 10 each, but it did show an improvement. I have a TPIS airfoil, I couldn't tell a difference when I put it in, but that was with the stock motor. A deep breathing stroker motor probably will benifit from it.
