Re: cam recommendations?

With the stock heads and stock computer you're limited to specs of 210 intake duration or less, and .460 lift or less.
However, a cam swap shouldnt be on your list of mods until you've done the exhaust, subframe connectors, and a general tune up.

Re: cam recommendations?

First off welcome to the board..........

I agree with Kevin, a cam swap should be done later on...........

If you want a few cheap horses you could swap in a used LT1 cam. You can pick one up for $30 or less. If I were you I would wait until you have done other mods first.

Re: cam recommendations?

well its not inspected. I'm gettin the car this sunday and its comin straight out to my tech school where we're gonna do a preinspection and install some stuff. I have the money left over so we were just gonna do high flow cat and a custom cat back, and i'm buying the tpi stage 2 tune up kit from jegs. Then about a week after that we'll be doing high flow runners. What all would you guys recommend be done besides that stuff before i throw a cam in it?

Re: cam recommendations?

Make sure its breathin healthy before you do anything. And then like everyone said subframe connectors, lca's,panhard bar. More power you have you want it to hook not spin the tires.

Re: cam recommendations?

I would do the suspension first before the runners/base. As 84z stated make sure the car hooks.

If you are going to do the runners (I recommend TPIS) then you might as well do the base as well (edelbrock). If not at leas port the stock base to match the runners and improve air flow (and port the plenum as well).

I hope you are installing dual cats along with your system.

Good luck

Re: cam recommendations?

well i can ask my one teacher at my tech school to do the base and the plenum. porting and polishing is one of his specialties and he does some amazing work. as for the runners, the ones i was looking at i found at ws6project.com

Re: cam recommendations?

I like the ASM runners. They look stock, still individual runners, but flow more/better! "Yeah, it's just a stock TPI...Wanna run?"

Re: cam recommendations?

Headers, headers, headers.

I saw some of the best results from these compared to other mods.

I personally would wait on the suspension stuff unless you car going to be taking it to the track regularly but it shoud be included in an overall plan.
