87 iroc SES code 23 MAT sensor low temp fault
ok i just swapped out the engine that was in it due to a spun bearing and just dropped in another 305 got it running set timing and get the SES code 23 MAT sensor low temp fault so i check the sensor and it was never plugged back in and i don't recall unplugging in when removing the previous engine so i removed my hood and searched in between the firewall and engine for an hour trying to find the hanging plug that is not connected with no luck can anybody just go and take a look at there engine and tell me which bundle of wire the plug for the MAT sensor is coming out of???
thanks
thanks

on mine, it comes off the main bundle by itself at the same place the injector wires for the passenger side fuel injectors do. i had to dig deep for it.

you said you swapped motors, you might want to make sure you didn't leave the pigtail on the previous mat sensor. there is a short piece that connects to the sensor and the wiring harness. if you are missing the pig tail, it will be hard to recognize cuz the connector coming off the wiring harness looks nothing like the connector on the mat.

sounds like you are missing the short piece of wire. The harness has a connector with 2 circle ports (male) that go to the short piece of wire with the 2 circle port female connector. The other end of this short piece goes to the MAT sensor with a single oval port male connector that has the 2 wires inside. Just look at buddies car to see what it looks like, or swipe it off a donor car.

There is a connector sticking out of the harness by the back of the block. A 1 ft piece of harness connects to that connector, which in turn connects to the MAT sensor. IT should look like this, but without the loom. The factory just wrapped it in tape.
