running LT1 cam?
Ok I have a few questions here
Im getting a cam from a 93 (i think) Z28 and im wondering if anyone else is running one in a stock L98. I know lift on my stock cam is .415/.430 and isnt the LT1 something like .471? So can I use stock vavle springs from my L98? Ive also been told that it might bog down on the bottom end, true? what kind of HP/TQ gains do you think it can make? Im also getting some stock heads, but i dont think i want to get into all those questions right now.

it will depend on the yr the cam comes out of and make sure u do not get a b body one other wise u will not gain anything, check #`s before buying to make sure its worth the time to install it

well its coming out of my buddies 93 camaro, and he giving me the heads and cam for free. Somehow coolant leaked out and he cracked his block so he got a whole new motor minus the injection system.

heads will not work on ur motor u have now, the lt1`s are reverse flowing heads, i would still check the spec`s on the cam, from the part # on it and see if its worth the time to install it, u might gain just as much by installing 1.6 rockers and its alot easier that way, from the quick search i did it says 450 lift on both sides for the 93 lt1 cam and if u were to go with 1.6 rockers u would be at 443/.459

i realize the heads are reverse coolant, that can be fixed. .450 lift on both sides doesnt sound too great, ill have to look into it more.

thanks for the link, the more i learn about it, the less i really think i want to do it. For some reason i was thinking it had more like .470 lift but i guess i was wrong.

yea i do not remember seeing any lt1 cam that had that much lift with 1.5`s, u would be better off getting 1.6 rockers and using ur stock cam. unless u did them lt1 heads up and get a better cam for them
