need some help
i have just swaped my carb to TPI. i got it all done when you start it up it idles like a champ but if you give it any gas it just dies. ive checked eveything over and over agin but we cant figure it out. i was throwing code 33 and 42 but i fixed the maf. 42 could just throw becasue the timeings not right. im sure that theres many people that have done this swap on this board i am just wondering what problems they ran into. or if anybody has ran into this befor. any info will be helpfull. thanks

First things first if your ecm has captured any codes and you corrected the problem. disconnect the battery for a few seconds to clear the ecm.
second have you checked your fuel pressure ?

If your timing is far enough off to throw a code, that will do it too. I had my timing off by 10-15 degrees when I first set up my 327 TPI and it still started and revved. You need the timing, with your set timing wire disconnected, to be in the 6-8btdc range. The computer assumes your timing is here and bases all its timing tables on it. You can't guess on where your timing is and expect the engine to run right.
