Believe it or not I hit a bump in the road from construction... when it went it was like a gun shot. Unbelievable. The suspension is stiff... but I don't know if it is possible to break just from that. I had a ratchet extension in the dip at the back... maybe it shot up and smashed the glass. The good news is paint damage is minimal so if I can find a used hatch we should be up and running again soon.

That sucks. I though you were going to say it got vandalized. That must have made a big mess. I had someone vandalize my car and it took forever to get most of the glass out. Good luck.

Man that sucks

Had a similar thing happen once only it was in Atlanta. I was in a Land Rover ( piece of junk dont ever buy one ) and driving down the road and POOF by bye rear window. No idea why and not an easy piece of glass to find on the road so some poly tarp and duct tape and we drove her home like that.

I remember reading something years ago that if they over tightened the hatch bolts on the assembly line the glass would explode then and there.

I'm not suggesting that over tightening is what happened in your case but it would seem that if they are stressed just right then the glass will shatter.

Could be... we had alot of alignment issues with this hatch.
