I work with a guy from peterbrough who drives from there to toronto everyday. As for GE he claims it is very hard to get in that plant. Real estate is cheap and if you have kids they will grow up in a better area then the GTA.

yeah thats fairly close lol, I just hate driving up the 115 cause of all of the bugs that get splattered all over the windsheild and the nose of the car.
As for getting into GE, they post on workopolis and their website has tons of job postings that are constantly getting updated and added to. I saw a postion for machinist and mailed my resume to the peterborough plant. Got a phone call a week later and here we are. Yet my buddy who lives in peterborough sent his resume in through the net (actually goes to somewhere in the states) and never got a call.
So there is a few of us on the east side of TO, we'll have to do a meet somewhere.
And I agree, I grew up in Peterborough (moved with my family to Georgetown about 8 years ago) and my wife is from there, it is a very nice place. No kids yet but their in the plan.
