Shannonville Drags May 27th News

Hey guys, Hylton posted this on our Ottawa F-Body site for us to start getting this gathering on the 27-28th a reality. If your going, or thinking about it, READ this and take advantage now.

I have arranged a deal with the Twin Peaks Motel in Napanee for our May
27th activity in Shannonville. They have 15 rooms available that night
and will give a deal of $50.00/night if we take the 10 double bed
rooms. If needed they will also give us the other rooms which have more
than one bed in each. They will cost a little more but are cheaper if 2
people grab one room. Decent parking lot where we can Bench Race after
we get back from Racing. Please call them as soon as possible so that
they can start putting us in rooms that are next to each other. Thier
phone number is 1-800-636-8103. Tell them you are with the "FBody
Group". Thier website is Twin Peaks Motel.
Buddy, can you please post this info on the Thirdgen site? I cannot
from work.

Thanks,
Hylton

That's excellent news. Hope to see/meet some enthusiests there. Should be a great time. Hylton was letting some of the Toronto/Montreal F-Body club members know as well, if last summer is any kind of repeat, and the die-hards of those clubs show up, it'll be really cool. Some really fantasic people from those clubs as well.

We will be checking in around 2:00p.m. Plan is as follows:

Meet 11:00 a.m. at MacEwen Gas station on Fallowfield Road at the
Moodie drive intersection. It is right next to the 416 on ramp and
easy to get to from all parts of town.

Shortly therafter, we will cruise together to the 401. Those in the
Kemptville area are welcome to meet us on the 416 on ramp to the 401
westbound. Please let me know if you are doing this so I can co-
ordinate.

Once on the 401, we will be stopping at the Tim Hortons rest area on
the highway which is about 5 minutes after the 1000 Islands Parkway
exit. I am estimating our arrival to this area around the 1:00 p.m.
timeframe.

We will be meeting the Montreal convoy at this point and then
continue from there togther to the Motel. I believe 1 or 2 guys from
the Perth area will also be meeting us at this rest area. For all
those who wish to meet us at the hotel, please go to Twin Peaks Motel for driving directions.
Ask to speak to Ali when reserving your room and mention that you are with the "FBody Group". I believe there are 4 rooms left.

Acceld said he was looking forward to the event too. Paul - are you booked yet?
How many Montreal guys so far? Same as last year? That'dd be cool.

TORONTO AND SURROUNDING AREA: YOUR WANTED AT SHANNONVILLE!!!!!!!
Hoping to meet some of you guys/girls for this weekend. Met Trigger and Jen 2 years ago there. The most diehard I've ever met! Excellent couple.
I think there's even some guys on here that live near Shannonville - Hopefully they can attend. Don't even need a hotel, but hopefully will follow to the hotel lot afterwards for some benchracing with us.

Ya - that would be cool. I am also going to try and get a few guys up from Northern New York. There must be a few New Yorkers less than an hour away from Shannonville.

Hey, I never thought of that. If any near the Prescott crossing and up farther at the 1000 Islands crossing, they could join the caravan on the 401 there.

I dont really talk with many people on here anymore...and I dont think a lot of the old guys frequent the board anymore...but regardless I will mention it to my buddy mike who has a 91 formula....we will see what sort of turnout we get from the toronto area boys.

Some of you might be interested in this. I just pasted it from LS2.com as the link probably wouldn't work because you'd have to register there to read the whole thread. Looks like a few people from here are going.

The Montreal crew have been discussing this a bit and we would like to have the TO and Ottawa guys up for a drag/drink/shoot the ****/party weekend.
The challenge was choosing the right weekend and to get the date out there so people could make plans.

As some of you may remember the first two trips were a complete blast.

There will be no tours of the GM plant this time but there will be drag racing and general tomfoolery.

The date is Aug. 5-6 which corresponds with the Ont. long weekend.
I'll still have to figure out a motel with decent proximity to downtown and Napierville.

Post up if you are interested in going along with any suggestions.

LOL, I'm the same way Paul. I called back this afternoon with my card to book a room. Damn W-5 and the likes. Making us so paranoid with there profiles on credit card and bank card fraud. LOL At least we're informed more though. lol.

BTW, Any more from Toronto and beyond interested yet?
Tanager, welcome aboard!

We will be promoting this event with our club later on. Basically, each club holds an event once a year where we try and get all three regions (Ottawa, Montreal and Toronto) to participate. This is why they are called Tri-City Invasions.

The problem with our event was that we could not find a suitable time to hold it in the spring without any Toronto conflicts. Toronto will also be holding such an event. All three clubs share ideas omongst each other to make sure we can keep things going.

Ya, Eugenio and Steve have not committed yet but they try to participate in all our events whenever they are invited. I think the 2 Mikes might come as well. I know of 3 more cars that will definitely be attending which makes 9 cars so far confirmed. I have another 5 cars that want to go but cannot make the committment untill the week before the event. That is not including the Montreal or Toronto guys! I was hoping for at least 10 to 15 cars so I think the only thing that can screw things up is the weather. 7 rooms have already been booked. The way things are shaping up, I think we will have close to 20 cars!

Listening to that thing growl all the way to Shannonville is reason alone to go for the meet.

Which leads me to ask if anyone else has decided to make the convoy there (or meet us there - this is for you Toronto and beyond crowd)???

We have 9 cars registered so far which is great! It will all depend on the weather for 5 other cars that are interested. On the good side, the last 3 weekends have been terrible weather wise so we cannot possibly have 5 rainy weekends in a row can we?

The guys from Speedkilz.com are also planning on attending to shoot pictures and videos during the convoy and event!

Doesn't someone from Speedkilz have an IROC?
Who are the other 5 interested - Ottawa, Montreal, or Toronto F-Body club?
Is Eugenio the only Montreal attendee?

So far, Eugenio is the only one from Montreal. Steve cannot commit until the last minute if at all. Might get a few more from Montreal but the whole thing will rest with the weather. Mike and Mark are 2 from our club who are supposed to be coming and one of my friends with a 69 Pro-Street said he will probably come. I have yet to hear from Rick, Andy and Harry who all drive "no rain whatsover" cars so we will not hear from them until later on next week.

Weather looks good for Saturday; 24 degrees during the day and 9 degrees at night (just what our cars love since we will be running in the evening). Just waiting to hear about Sundays weather.

Not quite sure. It all depends on what time everybody gets to Hunt Club road. Best thing is for me to call you just as we are leaving the gas station.

I thought you were meeting at Fallowfield and Moodie? Let me know for sure so we're not waiting in the wrong parking lot.

And my backseat will be full of hookers, booze, and fireworks.

Don't tell my wife.

Thanks for the clarification Hylton...

Well, I've got all my fingers and toes crossed for running in the new cam tonight...I don't want to be thrashing Fiday night chasing gremlins.

See you Saturday

The forecast is even better for Kingston, which is closer to where we'll be

Looks like a nice weekend ahead...

I got a new tune from madz28 and am still getting a hint of knock above 4500rpm's which I hope to get rid of before satuday racing!
Have to do another datalog and hope I can get a new tune file before then (and can't do it tonight for frig sakes)
I'm not sure if I should just bypass the knock sensor or not...just for a run or two with the drag radials.

Hey 6speed, wrap the knock sensor with a bit of teflon tape, that will make it a bit less sensative, but keep it functional to save any real bad knock just in case!

Ya, but...
It's barely hitting it now, but pulls some timing.
The tune has the KS desensitized already and I have an LT4 KM.
I'll try retourqing it, want to avoid the tape as it takes all the control out of the sensor..ie how much tape for how much knock?
Either I have other issues or the tune will get altered..I'm not sure how aggressive the timing or desensitization is.

Car: A Camaro of some sort.
Neil,

Don't forget to bring the trophy. Paul said HIS name is going on it this year! I have a new plaque with your name which I need to put on it.

LOL

My car is basically stock and I'm a terrible driver. I'll be happy if the car simply makes it to Shannonville.

Seriously, it's slow........just ask Scott
