Introducing ourselves...

I just thought it would be a good idea to introduce our selves and get reacquainted with one another again. I know it has been some time since alot of us frequented this site.
I for one have gone through alot of changes in the last two years. I am seperated, and I now live with a wonderful woman that has been an inspiration to me. Together we bought our 1990 GTA and I still own my 1987 TA . I have been driving Firebirds for about 16 years. I joined the Thirdgen site in Sept 2002 and I have enjoyed hanging out at the track and cruise nights with the guys I am looking forward to seeing everyone again this year and meet some new people along the way.

I am Dan . I haven't met most of you but share the same hobbies .

I have been outta the lite since I blew my back in 2003 and lost my liscence due to the injury . Since I have had to pay others to work on my car for me . I am hopeing to get my liscence back . Since then I have had a L-98 rebuilt with flat top forged pistons and other mods in my sig. Just last year I aquired a BBS turbo kit for the L-98 . It has been proven to lay down 573 rwhp on a stock L-98 ( mine isn;t stock now ...close but not). SO now the car needs some fuel problems sorted out ( converting to external pump(s)) and I am dongi an ECM swap to a Syclone/typhone ECM to manage it all . Butthe thing is I can;t really work on it( I am on crutches ,or in bed all day )

Ohhhhh, my man, I share your frustration

Anyway, my name is Paul and I've met a number of you. I have a '92 Z28 with a few mods that is all jacked up. It's likely going to get a Stealth Ram or be sold in the spring. My wife was kind enough to let me buy a Buick to ease the pain my Z28 has caused. I enjoyed the couple of months I had driving it but didn't enjoy the constant part replacement that TR's require.

Ah what the hell. I don't think I've met anyone here in person yet. My name is Chris, I'm 26 years old. Last summer my mother, brother and I moved from Mississauga and we bought a place in Hamilton (four car driveway plus a garage, yeah baby). My '90 GTA is still around with hacked-in stainless steel floors (long story). My lil '91 T-15 Jimmy is gone, donated to my brother's college for an offroading project. In it's place is a very thirsty '93 Grand Cherokee 5.2L. The other member of my fleet is a '93 Grand Voyager wheelchair van (for my brother), inherited from my father around this time last year (RIP, another long story).

The GTA is bone stock aside from the floors and fibreglass aerowing. Always mods that need done but time and $$ is always an issue. The GC will probably suck me dry this year. lol

So, anybody from Hamilton?

They sure improved it but they're quite heavy and with the spokes being set so far back the only brake upgrade I can do is 1LE because any of the bigger calipers will contact the back of the spokes.

Good to know, I love those rims but wanna do the C5 brake upgrade like Palric is doing.

I'm Mike from Kitchener, only met one person from this site, Richard. I have an 89 IROC LB9 with T's. Full exhaust.... Slp runners on their way plus some heavy intake and plenum porting. Gonna do some headwork as well. Hope to meet some more of you guys.

Hey I'm Tim, I've got an 87 Formula currently running a 90 TPI 305, but there is a 350 waiting to get started on in the basement. My car is solid and rust-free but will be a long-term project as I've got 3 kids and a wife with expensive taste (1987 Camaro I had to rebuild from the ground up with the help of a few friends this summer) With our 2 cars running well this summer we hope to get out to as many shows as possible this season. Spent too much of last summer under our 2 F-bodies! I have met some of you and if you've got engine goodies in the next year or 2 I'll meet more of you (or see you at the shows)

I frequent this site almost daily looking for tips and tricks. I live in St. Catharines and I always have my eyes peeled for other thirdgen cars. I love the lines and style of our cars. Looking forward to the Camaro shows and events this summer.

ME!!!

My name is Andy. I am 30. I live in Tottenham but I grew up in Etobicoke. Fell in love with IROC's the first time I laid eyes on one. I have had around 10 of them and countless parts cars. I have a 2 year old son and another boy on the way. Married for 3 years. I also have a 78 Malibu street strip car that I am playing with. My 88 IROC is upgraded with 91 skirts, hood, dash and engine. Mechanic, used to work for Kane's Performance now I am back to North York Chev Corvette in Thornhill, the dealer I worked for before that. Racing for 15 years - stock car, drag car, drag bike. Play money is limited this year so I am planning only some exhaust mods on the IROC and tuning the Malibu into the 10's. Currently 11.36@117 on the spray.1.45 60 foot.

While I am at it...

My name is Richard I am too old to old for imports and too young for '55 Chevies. So the 3rd gen fits like a glove.

Live in Kitchener married three kids one cat no dog (yet) somehow I managed to get mods past the wife as 'necessary upgrades'.

I am on my 4th 3rd gen this one is a '90 IROC hardtop L98. Before that was a '91 Formula LB9 stick, before that an '88 Formula L03 stick, before that an '85 IROC stick. Been stuck on 3rd gens for 20 years now ...

It will be fun to meet up with everyone come summer.

RP

Dave...from Mississauga. Been on here for years now and met a few people over the years on the boards......all good guys!

Neglected 89 RS brought back from the dead.......have her about 8/maybe 9 years now (wow how time flys). My friends call it the "Grimace" mobile....but I swear to them its blue not purple....lol....(wrong colour paint job...but it all ended up working out for the best).

Always doing something to it in the summer...and done with working on it in the winter (I am to old for freezing my but off working on cars in the winter...now...lol)

As for next year......got things more or less where I want them after all these years........now its time for tuning/prom buring...should be fun!

My name is Jay... and I'm a thirdgenaholic.

My first thirdgen was a 1983 Z28.. LG4/TH350... glass hood. We swapped in a budget 355/700R4 (I mean budget... even kept the stock LG4 intake manifold and stock stall). Got that into the 13s... By that point the body was pretty beat and there were alot of things I wanted different... so...

Here's a pic of my old ride... budget 1983 Z:

I scrapped the '83Z at the end of 2002 and started a father/son project with my dad (Ratchet) who is a tool and die maker by trade and has some amazing fabrication skills. We gave it the name Project ZZD (Zig Zag and Drag) inspired by a thirgen suspension tuning article in Chevy High Performance called "Zig & Zag". Our new car is nearing completion... There is a project journal here that shows most of the progress:

http://www.hotrodders.com/forum/jour...19&action=view

It should be rollin hard for this summer... 383/T5 for now...

I have met alot of the guys in this thread and hope we can put together a few good track days this summer!

Not yet, I was going to order the parts next month. AFAIK the HD parts are no more expensive than the normal C4 stuff.

Just looking at the lines on the budget Z28 there and I'd have to say that the car looks right - very clean design with nothing on it that doesn't need to be there and it looks fast.

Can't say the same about the new concept car that was unwrapped today - it'll probably be quick and all but the new design is over done and doesn't really work that well IMO.

Well, My name is Matthew, I have a 1982 Z28, thats been modified quite a bit, its a street/strip weekend car.
Still in the progress, if you refer to the winter mods revival posts hahaha im procrastinating quite a lot.
Im still a young guy only being a year older then my car :P
In the military full time and loving it, it supports my hobby by providing a decent paycheque for me. Whenever i can squeeze some extra by the wifey it goes to the vehicle.
Im currently in Taiwan visiting the better half and wont be back home in Mississauga till mid month. I tend to travel a lot during my holidays.

I may have a low post count and I only joined in 2004, but ive been frequenting this site since like 2000-1. I didnt see a need to join as there is so much information to read and not many reasons to post new information.

Ive met a few of you from here and a few from ccfbg.com as im a club member there.

Hopefully this summer I shall have my baby out back on the road again and going to the shows and attend other events, when I can, as i always tend to work the days of the shows *shakes head*

DUDE! andyiroc88, I work with Ray Galica, we pass your shop every time we do the Alliston Peddle. I'm his bud with the '87 GTA. I asked him if you could find out how much a harwood cowl would be, lol! Wow...small freakin' world...love the shop man, always nice to drive by there and see some hot cars inside. What year is that bird sitting outside for sale?

Engine: LQ4 6.0L
Transmission: T56
Axle/Gears: 3.55 8.8
Hey Guys, My name is Neil.
I got my 86 IROC about 12 years ago back in highschool when everyone else up here had 5.0's.. It had 80,400Kms on it...ahh remember the day. Now has 220,xxx?
I've been doing little mods here and there since then as the budget allows. I like to keep my car looking factory and stock and have all the original stuff to put it back to original if I ever want to.
I put in a T56 about 5 years ago when I still had the 5.0 TPI in the car since it ended up costing not much more than good rebuild (before eveyone and their sister wanted a 6 speed!). About 3 years ago it finally got the motor upgrade to the 95 LT1.
Next mods are heads/cam/gears, then full body job stripping the car right down.

I'll hopefully make it to a few events out of Ottawa this summer and will for sure be at most around here. I always have a good time getting together with guys on the board.
Also joined up with the Ottawa F-body Club this past year, met more 3rd genners and attended some great gatherings.

Hey guys, My name is Andrew and I run a '91 1LE and an '86GN. My dad has an '89TTA and a few other toys Both of us have been around cars for a long time just like you....
I'm out in Etobicoke and venture to most of the summer cruise nights that take place in Burlington (mapleview mall,) Missis (Applewood) Canadian Tire (427 & QEW) and even the odd time up to Brampton's gathering at Shopper's world.
Currently I'm building my "Zed" so that it can run at open road rally events with the goal to run out in Nevada's Pony Express. Needless to say I'm more of a autoX and hug the curves "affectionindo", over the 1/4 mile, but I love both types of set-ups very much.
Anyways, I hope to put some faces to the names this upcomming summer.
Just wanted to say
-Andrew

Ken, from Carleton Place. Bought the Screamin'chickn in high school also. Most of the refinishing was done around 94/95. The project never ends...

The car is a 1986 T/A, Candy Apple Red (HOC/tri-coat), 327 +.060, 700r4. 3.70's, freshened bottom end, and rubber last year. My main objective is to have the car tuned properly and perhaps a cam/intake change if I can come up with a good combination for what I have. Trying to justify a tire and wheel swap by putting the ROH's on the street rod.

I'm currently heavy into the restoration of a 1938 Chevrolet and fabbing a chassis for my 1939 sedan (rod). With new owners at Capital City Speedway, we may canvas our sponsors and take a shot at another roundy-round season...we'll see.

I definitely plan to be out more this summer, as was the plan last year...that never materialized! No more summer projects!

How much hood clearance do you need for a Roots Blower or maybe a better way to ask this question is How big of a cowl hood do you need to have a roots style blower under the hood.

You can use a stock hood, and just cut a big hole in it This is a roots style blower.

Depends what size Ratchet. With a small drop base aircleaner, you could fit a 177 under a 3" lift, maybe even 2" lift.

You talking about the Silver State Classic?

Running in that race has been a dream of mine for years.

I'll get out there one day

Yep - I don't know if you guys remember an 'old' edition of Hot Rod in which there was a black '68 charger built up to run in the 'open class'..... well that's how and when the bug bit, and now this is one of my goals with the car...
