HPI Nitro RS4 of some variation?
I bet it'll take most of our cars off the line.
Damn, that reminds me... I never did take any pics of the HPI Trans Am body I stuck on my widened dual motor TA02 a while back... Hey, wanna race?

I used to have an RS4 Racer with hpi's .15ss engine. Damn that thing was quick... especially when ya put a 2spd on and the thing will do 60mph in like 3-4 seconds.

lol, wicked!
I have an hpi nitro mt truck. Just bought a ram body for it ( i know, dodge), but that's all they had and I destroyed the original on too many jumps.
We should bring them out at the meets and race em around!!

Looks like a pretty cool car. So what are these, anyways? Is it like a hopped up remote control car? This is the first I have seen these.
So when is the new thirdgen coming?

These(his) are 1/10th scale 2 stroke nitromethane fueled Radio Controlled cars. These cars use a single cylinder(sleeved) 2 stroke motor and anywhere from 10 - 50%(Depending on how crazy or stupid you are) nitromethane/oil fuel ratio. There's many different cars on the market and they weigh anywhere from 1500 - 2000grams. They can have adjustable everything and I do mean everything. From toe, camber, caster, ride height to gearing to braking compounds to tire compounds to exhausts. ANYTHING! I used to own one and race locally and with some guys at a club in Hamilton called the PLRC(Parkinglot racing club). Lots of fun. Cars usually run 7-9mins depending on the size of the fuel cell and the motor and how lean/rich you are running... good thing is no need to swap batteries as you just need to pour more fuel in. These cars do use batteries to control 2 servo's which control the steering and throttle/braking tho.
Oh how I miss mine now I also had Airtronics M8 pistol grip controller. The mecca of controllers!
They sound kinda like ricers with fart pipes but the r/c cars actually sound like they're putting out more power... The better motors for 1/10th scale can put out 2.5hp in what's known as a .15 motor... most 1/10 scale cars run .12 motors which put out anywhere from .6hp to 1.5hp
AND yes they actually are dyno'd and you can buy your own dyno machine for them.

P.S. Paul cut part of that damn exhaust tip off already! It'll be louder Actually if you ever plan on racing with anyone else you'll end up getting it caught up in the other drives cars alot if you let it stick out that much.

My Nitro MT truck was in and around $600 with fuel, paint and all dat stuff..pre=aseembled too - extra glow plugs and upgraded aluminum shocks. Trust me, you won' t belive how fast these things are until ya see it first hand.
Stay away from Advance hobbies in the east end. Bunch of rip offs.
There's a guy located off of highway 7 just east of Hwy 27.
Can't remember the name of the shop but he's extremely helpful and has ALOT in stock.
By the way, he's got a great used selection as well. He's in the same building as DaVinci banquest hall I believe...

I went in looking for some plane parts. Buddy there behind the counter went to look up a parts number, had some trouble, and fifteen minutes later decided to go help another customer while I was standing there waiting! He just gave me the odd nod now and then. Fine, I'll go elsewhere.
The hobby show last year. I overheard another one of these Hobby Hobby boneheads recommend a Kyosho entry-level kit (an Ultima gas truck) over an HPI entry-level kit (A Rush I believe) because the Kyosho is "more hi-tech" and is built better. Have any of you guys dealt with Kyosho chassis', let alone their engines? Their engines are garbage and the chassis', while not necessarily bad by any means, can't touch HPI's. Naturally, the Kyosho had a higher sticker price. Yep, "customer first".
Hobby Hobby... Pfft... I'd rather go to Panther Hobbies, Hobby World, Oakville Hobbies, or eBay.

I should have been more specific with my recommendation I guess. They're good as far as 1/10 scale touring cars and parts go. I havn't actually shopped there for a couple years now but they've only gotten more business since then so I assumed they'd be better now. Before they always had the best stock and had some pretty knowledgeable people as far as the touring car scene goes.
I won't vouche for the knowledge of the entire staff now as I dont know any of them anymore. When I raced with their sponsoring club PLRC(Parkinglot racing club) I knew a couple of them who had pretty good knowledge of current happenings.
I've been to Panther hobbies and Hobby World also but nobody had the same selection as Hobby Hobby. I dont know why I'm going on about this place now as I dont work for them and dont really care... was just giving a recommendation and now I feel like I'm just defending it for no reason Oh well. I miss my RS4 Racer and M8 is all I know for sure

Granted, Hobby Hobby has the best selection of any store I've been to, but they also have far and away the highest price. Back when I was fairly new I bought a charger there for $80. A couple of weeks later I went to Panther and saw the same one for $40. The last time I was there the trend still continues. Honestly, I can't understand why they're still in business. Convience I guess...
My brother and I went in there to buy a balsawood warship kit. While looking at the contents the only thing in the entire kit the kid behind the counter could recognize (the owner's son, if memory serves) was the rudder. Yeah, thanks.
The best thing about that store is the girls in their booth at the hobby show each year.
Now I'm really anxious to fire up my NMT or my Rampage. Last year was a slow one. At last count I think I had nearly twenty R/Cs. I'm not even sure which transmitter is for which car/truck anymore. lol

cool i thought i was the only one into r/c i got the hpi rs3 with 2speed tranny, pico pipe, high flow filter, high exhaust manifold, aluminum lower control arms and adjustable camber/camer/toe suspention setup. I also just got the new t-maxx 2.5 upgraded the suspention with aluminum buklheads, aluminum shocks, aluminum shock towers, aluminum skid plates, aluminum subframe connector and aluminum servo skid plate no engine mods just beefy suspention to handel the rocks and jump. My original supention on the truck i broke the front bulkhead and poped the shock fluid right out the top of the sleeve.

And one of my Rampage ZR-1 (Bonus points if you're familiar with that one). Both are powered by .15 OPS engines (the NMT with the HPI labelled engine, the Kyosho with the otherwise identical Tamiya labelled version). No pics of the Nitro Crusher yet, since it still awaits a manifold, clutch, body, etc...:

I got that for Christmas when I was in grade eight, so I've had that one for just over ten years now. It's a Kyosho Rampage ZR-1, an offroad buggy chassis (mid-engine, inline, rwd) with street tires and a 'vette body as a kit.
I really need to snap some pics of the T/A... I have some pics of it when it still had a New Beetle body on it. A twin-motor 4wd New Beetle. Turbonium.
