YouTube street racers beware
I've actually been following this for a while and it has been quite interesting but long story short is that if you post your videos of illegal activities on YouTube and your identity is available you can be prosecuted. There are lots of Police Officers and Prosecutors out there who would love to make a name for themselves by investigating and prosecuting sensationalized YouTube street racers. Saying you're going racing in Mexico doesn't work.

The longer story that was shared in videos (that have since been removed) was that this guy, FamilyCruisin, had a Dodge Challenger Hellcat that had been modified in addition to having some sort of tune that sounded mail order-ish. The engine eventually broke and needed replaced. The local Dodge dealership agreed to and replaced the engine even though it had been modified and the ecm run-time parameters had been altered. After the dealer put the new engine in they could not get the car to even idle adequately and they advised that the original tune be put back on or that he trailer it home so his tuner could fix the issue. FamilyCruisin never did either and shortly after FamilyCruisin took back possession of the car (2-3 days) the engine caught fire and the car burnt down. Family cruisin then released a series of videos where he badly disparaged the dealership, the dealership sent him a Cease and Desist from their attorneys but he just continued to run his mouth disparaging the dealership. Then all of the sudden a Plainfield IL police officer just happens to see a video of his car burning down and opens an investigation into FamilyCruisin and ends up arresting him on 15 traffic counts and one count of child endangerment and gives him a $400,000 bond. Researching average bail bond amounts: Murder: $500,000 Hit and run: $50,000 Evading police: $100,000 if police or pedestrians are injured or $50,000 if not Car Jacking: $40,000. Feel free to draw your own conclusion but the main take home of the story is that this should be a wake up call that if you post your illegal actions to YouTube you can be prosecuted.

Me Too!
This is just common sense, If you beat your wife and video it you are going to get in trouble. Why would you think if you video illegal street racing the out come would be different?
Drew is right stupidity should have a consequence!

Who uses their real identity on YouTube? And just because someone posts a video doesn't mean they were the ones racing. And what proof is there of where the racing took place? Cops don't have jurisdiction everywhere. People would have to be pretty stupid to get caught that way. That being said, I am personally against street racing...

Back in the day, "high tech" used VHS and Super8 Recorders, and nobody snitched.
Of course, the broad reach of the internet and the YouTube channels looking for more and more, no surprise it's an easy target for anonymous "turn-ins" or for the PD to monitor.

Re: YouTube street racers beware
the hell cat the caught fire was not the first to do so...the fuel lines are a weak point if not put back on all the way/right..and we had one also burn in ID... AFTER the dealer installed a new eng … just sayn..his use of the car was used to get away with the dealer doing the work.Car loses Power.making a hit.as the fuel line pops off..and sprays fuel on headers..and poof..hellcat FlAMBE!! blame the driver....just sayn…
