Re: Firebird vs Camaro?
I think you answered your own question, though driver skill can also play into it, if one power shifts the auto instead of just flooring it in drive. Also the length of the race would make a difference in the aerodynamics category. As for the weight it would depend on the amount of options one would have on the car, in theory if I remember correctly the Trans-Am's weighted the most when fully optioned, then the Camaro, and finally the Firebird. In the weight category it would also matter down to the exact model and year you were running again if I remember correctly the 350 Formula Firebird from the late 80's was the lightest (not having ground affects and such). In a quarter mile race, my verdict would be, the 350 Formula Firebird 1st, the 350 IROC-Z Camaro 2nd, and the 350 GTA Trans-Am 3rd.

Gear ratio....Limited slip vs Open...Tire width/compound for traction.
With enough work pretty much everything could be balanced between the 2 cars then it would come down to the drivers.

Re: Firebird vs Camaro?
The suspensions set-ups were different on all three cars, not sure how much that would play into 1/4 mile race or even a flat out mile, on a road course though things could get interesting.
