ford...cobra? can i win?
okay, my friend has a 97 cobra and hasnt touched the thing. i plan to race him after i get my exhaust, headers, underdrive pulleys, and afpr. i can shift a hell of a lot quicker than he can. he has z rated tires and im afraid that his 17" will hook up a lot faster than mine and thats what will cause me to lose. im pretty sure he wouldnt beat me by to much but hopefully since he sux at shifting i can beat him their...what do u guys think?

i think you have a good chance. the full exhaust, afpr, and pulleys will definently be worth an extra .4th, so that will bring you close to 14.0...just like the cobra. If you really can shift faster than him, i could definetly see you winning.

Hehe, <^> Did i forget to mention the cobra has straight pipes? Losing some VERY important torque because those 4.6's don't put out to much. I haven't lost to one mustang yet, I don't plan to lose to him. = D

From someone who has beaten a slightly modified 97 Mustang Cobra at the "sticky" drag strip -I would say you have a pretty good chance at beating him. This guy only managed a 14.41 to my 14.38 - Also, my reaction time was better so I put a few car lengths on him by the end of the track. ohh -yea... I didn't spend $30,000+ for my car either.

I've raced a 4.6 Cobra before, I could pull him in 1st & 2nd but he would catch me in 3rd and pull on me in 4th. I think he would have beaten me in a full 1/4. But if you can bang gears better then your mustang buddy then I think you may have a chance
