Re: Gran Turismo 5

According to this: http://www.gamesradar.com/ps3/gran-t...4452396099/p-2
all they have is still that stupid IROC-Z concept. And still no Firebirds at all of any generation... WHY? I count 16 versions of just the NSX alone! And do we really need this instead of a Firebird in a racing game?!?

I am picking the game up tomorrow. As soon as I se something i will post it here.

Why does an IROC have to be stupid? Everyone has their favorite, no need to bash the Camaro guys just because you like the Pontiac.

Oh nononono I wasn't bashing the IROC-Z, I love all thirdgens. I just meant I'm frustrated that they only include the concept car but no actual production models, since its a significantly different (at least in appearance) vehicle. Why bother putting in such an obscure test vehicle, but no actual production thirdgens?

Re: Gran Turismo 5

I'm banking on downloadable cars coming in. I know for a fact that they did full scans of many many more cars that didn't make it into the game. It's also been said that updates will come every week on Sunday, but that is probably gameplay stuff.

It's got my car in it and it actually sounds like it has a V8 this time. The third gen was one of my favorite cars in 4 so I hope it's still the same.

Took this one today. That Ferrari is quick in these races.

This game sucks green donkey D's.....the music is pretty sad, turned it off but the biggest gripe is the engine sounds, WTF, all the cars sound like clogged vacuum cleaners, crashes sounds like someone banging on pots and pans and the cars feel like they are driving on ice. It looks a lot better than Forza but when it comes to atmosphere, sound and driving feel it doesn't even come close.

It's pathetic how my titanium burnt tip (LOL!!) supercharged corvette sounds. It sounds like a honda! Ricers had too much influence in this game.

I Don't agree with you at all. I love the game. Its very detailed and cars drive like cars. You take a turn at 100 MPH guess what your going off the road. unlike other games were it very fake. I have been playing gran turismo since the mid 90's and love them.

Re: Gran Turismo 5

All the cars have horrible understeer and snap like crazy, its like driving on ice. Have you ever driven a track car on a track? I have, same w/ high perf. go carts. What you perceive as "fake" in some other games is more realistic, the grip levels of a prepared car on a track are so much higher than that of a street car on street tires.

But apart from that, even w a basic C5 Z06 and all the "*****" mods available, it's pushing a little over 500HP and it's completely un-drivable.Cant full throttle accelerate without it snapping and spinning off the road, can't take a high speed corner with a touch of throttle (LaSarthe lemans, back straight) without the back stepping out. That's not realistic, it's driving on ice. Yes, I have assists turned off.

This game is rubbish.

Re: Gran Turismo 5

I used to think Gran Tourismo was a great game.....until I was intorduced to the Forza series. It totally blows GT out of the water IMO. They tried to polish GT a little too much. Sure there's trying to make the cars drive realistic, but we're trying to drive a car with a primitive gaming controller so you kind of have to take that into consideration when designing the game. I may go buy an Xbox360 just to play the new forza (and maybe the halo series lol).

Not to mention, I really dont get GT's hatred toward Pontiac......I mean c'mon, one of the greatest american auto makers since the 60's, and you can't even include them in a freaking video game, but we have 20 different versions of the honda civic?

Re: Gran Turismo 5

I was forced to sell my PS3 because work wasn't paying me... so I've been w/o a system for about a month now...

I still want to play COD:BO, but had reservations about GT5. I loved the original Forza for Xbox and thought it was MUCH better tha any of the GT series.

Plain and simple, the only reason I even wanted GT5 was because of the thirdgens in it. W/O those, its just another game I won't be buying.

I could care less about 15 different Civics, all I want is some American muscle that isn't a damn Corvette or Mustang.

We always were told we'd see:

Chevrolet Camaro Pace Car '82
Chevrolet Camaro IROCZ Concept '88
Chevrolet Camaro IROCZ '89
Chevrolet Camaro IROCZ '90
Chevrolet Camaro California Concept '90
Chevrolet Camaro RS '92
Chevrolet Camaro Z/28 Heritage '92
Chevrolet Camaro 25th Anniversary Collectors Edition '92

I was even excited for these:

Chevrolet Beretta GTU '88
Chevrolet Beretta Indy GT '90
Chevrolet Beretta Pace Car '90
Chevrolet Beretta GTZ '93
Chevrolet Beretta Z26 '96

Yea I was just thinking about that. Funny how the *cough "BIASED" cough* makers of GT5 felt the need for yaris's and other crap cars that I could care less if I never saw another again, yet a great american car like a trans am is absent like it never existed. You would think that with the "1000" or so cars the game brags about, one could have been a car with history to it. But I guess toyota paid them more to include thier full model line up instead. BS.

1,000 cars and only 3 that I would choose(69 z28, 69 vette, and 70 Chevelle) I don't want to drive a concept I want to drive a car that's actually similar to what I own. No love for the Firebirds either. They put a Solstice, a Sunfire and a Vibe but no Firebird? So many Mazdas, Nissans and Mitsubishis though.

I can't vouch 100% for Forza because it seems to have a European car bias, but the car selection is 100% better. Quality > Quantity any day.

I was wondering if anyone can confirm that GT5 has terrible audio for v8 cars. No bass, and all sound like blenders? That's what I've heard, but haven't gotten a solid confirmation on it. Forza has pretty decent sound so I was wondering how GT5 stacked up.

Re: Gran Turismo 5

GT5 is a joke go buy Forza3 or wait a bit for Forza 4. GT5 would have been an amazing game 5 years ago but after all the delays and bs its disappointing. They can put in a Pontiac Vibe and Nascar but not a Third gen. Yeah it has 1000 cars but 200 are essentially copies of one another and another 300-400 are cars you wouldnt want to drive anyway. Almost not vintage stuff at all. Forza is way more fun to play as well.

end rant.

I hate to be the only on here, but i love the game. I went to the salvage yard and bought a car seat and used it to build a gaming rig. It has a Logitec Driving Force GT wheel/pedals. I, and my twin 8 year olds, love playing it. The track at Top Gear is fantastic!

Still haven't found the IROC yet though...

Yes I have. Forza 3 has a Firebird(a Trans Am is still a Firebird, I've always assumed Firebird is the name of the entire line and Trans Am is a trim package much like the Z28, correct me if I'm wrong for thinking that)

Forza is one of the major reasons I bought an xbox over a ps3 and from hearing the reviews here and other places, I am not at all disappointed. This whole time waiting for GT5 to come out, I assumed it would be the better game by a long shot, considering all the years they had to develop the game and all they came up with are some extra car models. Few quality cars to choose from and no realistic engine sounds(it just looks pretty) If there's not a car I want to drive than it's worthless to me.

That appears to be just a wishlist of cars that someone hoped for. It was posted in 2007 and says it features 10000 cars. No game will have that many, it's not worth it to the game developers to do that many. From all 4 generations of Firebirds you'd be lucky to 1 of each gen, let alone a 91 TA, an 89 GTA, a 92 GTA, a Formula, a v6, a Firehawk, a Pace car, a TTA.

Re: Gran Turismo 5

I have been a die hard Sony, GT person my whole life, since there has been no good racing games for PS3 I got a 360 a while back just for forza 3, I was SO dissapointed at GT5 I felt like I was playing GT4, and the graphics do kinda suck compared to forze, the backrounds are still 2D renderred images and the leaves on the trees are still 2D, everything is 3D in forza, as stated the exhaust notes are embarrasing, it sounds like a late 80's 8bit racing game. Only 200 "premium" cars, you cant even change the wheels on a standard car, which theres 800 of! Driving sucks, there is no realism to it at all, the upgrades are even worse than GT4, hell you can do motor swaps and drivetrain swaps in Forza, thats just awesome! The ONLY thing it has going for it is it has the best smoke sim of any game. Forza is better in every way, the engines sound pretty damn good, and driving feel is unmatched. PLUS option to have a clutch button in GT which you can have in forza. Forza3 owns GT5 all day. Nuff' said.

Re: Gran Turismo 5

You guys didn't learn from 3 and 4? After all the hype and waiting, they turned out to be just another racing game. I was a huge GT fan, Forza 2 changed my mind real quick. Forza 3 is a little lacking in the car department, but the ones that count are there, fully paintable and with aftermarket wheels. Not too many body mods for the 3rd gens, just a huge cowl hood and a gay wing, but at least they're there and not some kind of download.

Re: Gran Turismo 5

No mainly cause I dont remember the waiting or hype over 3 or 4, plus those were it to me when it cam to racing simulation I didnt get introduced to forza until 3 came out then I went and got a 360 just for that game and thats still the only 360 game I have lol. I just had hope I guess, and one more gripe I have with GT5 is that 90% of the cars are 276hp cause of the HUGE jap influence, they couldnt even use the american counterparts which 9 times outta 10 had more power. I try to play it and it just makes me want to play forza, cant wait for forza 4.

Re: Gran Turismo 5

level 17 was around the time i was offered it in the used lot. i opted to save my pennies for a zr1 that i cant control for **** half the time, and waste my money on a "fully customizable suspensionj that you cant lower the car it looks, and you cant modify the car left to right. just front to back so i cant even make a sick professional series daytona raceway car to make a quick 18k in 3 minutes of racing. plus like every racing game, as u upgrade ur car, magically everyone else is doing the same mods too.

Re: Gran Turismo 5

Any more info on if there will be a thirdgen (aside from the 88 concept) in the game? I'm waiting to buy it (and won't), unless there is a 3rdgen in it ultimately.

Just found this:

Re: Gran Turismo 5

I haven't gone back to the GT series ever since I played the Forza 1 DEMO. I hope Forza 4 has better suspension tuning, and engine sounds changing from mods, like in Forza 2. Fix the drag racing, too. Only real issues Forza has.

What was Sony doing all those years with the game in development? I just watched some videos and it looks like the game was thrown together in just a couple months.

I've been playing it since Christmas (even though it is technichally my little brothers present, he is pretty mad) and I just reached level 17. Where in level 17 do you get the IROC?

i don't think i'm quite to 17 yet, but you just need to keep checking the used dealer (i do every 2-3 events or so). stuff refreshes pretty quickly there, so i just kept crossing my fingers.

Re: Gran Turismo 5

The Iroc concept pops up randomly on the used car lot, not at any specific level. It took me quite a while to get it, but a buddy I work with had it the first day. Check the used lot often. Ryan

Re: Gran Turismo 5

Something that's cool is you can actually paint the used cars compared to previous installments. If we can change the wheels and go premium on the used cars, I would be set

I agree, it does take a bit of time to get the IROC concept. I got mine and it went black immediately. Looking to get another one, and I'm at lvl 25.

To be honest, I think it really depends on the kind of races you do. I read somewhere that the cars that show up are solely dependent on a particular race. How true it is is beyond me.

Also, the music was a small selection I like for racing, so I opted to use my playlist instead.

Re: Gran Turismo 5

I have been a GT fan from the begining. But GT5 is somewhat dissapointing. The music is dissapointing. It looks the same as GT3. 15 versions of the same lame a$$ car. Lame a$$ cars the have no place being in a racing game. I dont'
understand how it took this long to make the same version of the game they had out years ago.

Re: Gran Turismo 5

the iroc concept isn't available at a certain level, it is when you buy it, i got mine the day the game came out, and honestly i would rather have a whole bunch of cars then 15 versions of thirdgens, i would love to see a real iroc and firebird t/a in the game, but that would be doing what all you are complaing about, putting too many of the same car in the game, gt5 is pretty amazing considering its a console racer, if you want a sim, pay for iracing, i love gt5, and for you forza fans which looks rediculious side by side to gt5, forza didnt impress me at all, that felt more arcadeish then gt5 does, but it would be cool to roll around in a t/a in gt5, dont get me wrong, and i love my thirdgen, but c'mon, i saw over 10 different versions you guys want to see in the game, and its just that a game, a worldwide game, not just american, so they had to put some europeans cars, of course a lot of japenese cars, and there are quiet a few american cars(there is also a 69 camaro ss 350 in the used lot) thats just how i feel, id like to see an iroc and a t/a in there, but other then that its probably the best console game you can buy, and if all you wanna do is come in and complain about it, dont come to the post entitled "GT5"

EDIT: The online dealership has mostly rare sports cars , Like RUF, The Escudo Is in there and so is the Formula GT
