Car: Lots of 'em
Re: Fastest you've gone
Makes no difference to me, but when someone says that a 300 horsepower car is quick enough to make stripes on a road look solid, and telephone poles look like a picket fence, it peaks my curiosity. I've personally had my Slowstang up to 150 MPH four times (Calibrated the speedometer down to the exact tire rotations per mile via handheld tuner, then verified it to be dead on with a GPS) and the stripes on the road didn't look solid to me.
So, you must have really been hauling, as in 170 MPH or more.

Re: Fastest you've gone
Actually, here's exactly what 150 MPH looks like inside. Paced a new 5.0 up to those speeds, they hit 6th, 150 MPH, as they were slowly passing me. No real indication of that sort of speed until you notice how fast both of us fly by the signs. Lines on the road look pretty normal though.

the telephone poles were in my el camino that took several miles of road to get it up there not real intelegent i was 17 and i was told at that time around 130 -140 would do that and it was peged the 305 is no longer and i was also told that the stripes on an interstate being solid would be between 150 160 when they started doing that not saying either car is unbelievable fast they both just have realy tall gears the cutlass runs 2 grand at 80 i dont remember the rpm on the stiped line incident i was in the back seat

Got the 87 up to 138 with the stock 305 before I had issues (ended up snapping a push rod...boy that was fun), only had the 91 up around 115. Hit 140 in the GT and the Mach1 won't be going any higher than 65 (speed limit). I won't be too stupid in the Mach, not the easiest to replace.

Re: Fastest you've gone
I hit the limiter in my old '92 Z28 (305), I think it was at 114mph.
When I picked up my '91 Z28 (new 350) a couple weeks ago and drove it from Cleveland, OH to Maryland, I hit 125 on an empty stretch of highway. I slowed down cause I was near redline, and because I was approaching a town.

Re: Fastest you've gone
You guys live close as helll to me.
I did 123mph on Rt 20 at night.. Had to let off because of the RPMS.
Heres a vid of me going 117mph yesterday for the first time in a long while. Very close to where you live.
Enjoy and remember this is just a V6

Re: Fastest you've gone
I know mine will spin 5800 rpms @ 120mph but it has 3.23's in the rear. My Rev limiter is set pretty high(7K) so I could keep going but theres no sence in that. I've never heard good things about stock 700R's spinning past 6k rpms if you make alot of HP.

I'm just going to post all my top speeds in all the cars I've owned in recen past my first car I will never forget racing a v8 t bird
1992 camaro v6 118mph and I got scared
1996 grand am gt electronic shutoff at 110
1995 firebird v6 shitload of bolt ons and nicely tuned 131. Spun a rod bearing doing this speed
2000 grand am gt limiter taken off cold air and exhaust 138 mph
1990 camaro rs 305 well past my speedo at 110 hitting my trip reset, I would guesstimate around 125 and I had plenty left on the tach

The guy that owned it before me said he had the Chevy dealership remove the top speed limiter and adjust air fuel ratio, i always thought he was full of it, but if I'm not mistaken they shutoff at 110 so he must have

Yea he or someone would have had to raise the limiter, and I know that mustof taken so much road if you did that. IIRC my car when it was stock took like 28-30 seconds just to hit 100mph... Poor thing

2.8 cars are the only cars that didnt not get a speed limiter and even stock they could not top 120mph going downhill, i know i had 10 open miles on the new jersey turnpike to try and a few of those miles were downhill
the 3.1 with slightly better power would have trouble going 125 even if it didnt have a speed limiter

u didnt do 110 or get a bj in ur v6 camaro, and u most deffinatly did not hit 145+ as the 90/91/92 v6 is limited to 112mph, fuel off at 112 , back on at 110

I dont know how you guys can get them up past 140 reasonably. mine gets way too squirrely past 100. best ive done is 115 on a 1/4 mile stretch of highway and it scared me good using both lanes at that.
