I agree completely. I'm getting killed with insurance because of my age, and if that wasn't enough. The bloodsuckers tell me that the car has no abs or safety features, and it's a muscle car so the insurance will increase by another 600. Stupid fukin ricers i can't even get full coverage on my car because of them. And you're right not only should the people here teach us how to drive, But, this country should get it's head out of its *** and start manufacturing **** here instead of making in china or india. I'm afraid to buy car parts out of the country because they are made like ****. And, this is to anyone who wants to argue that ricers can beat muscle. Try to come up with a come back for this Ricers. If you praise imports so much why are you putting american made parts in your cars. Garrett super chargers, american suspension parts, and many other parts that are american. Have pride in your jap **** parts.

I totally agree with stealthroc89. Even with a turbo a Honda is not beating an L98 car.

I had a ***** pull up next to me on the highway after I got my long tubes installed. Before he was pulling up to random cars behind me and hitting the gas, trying to race them. Once he got to me I threw him a rev and he looked away and took the next exit. My guess is he was going home to tape his big wing on as quickly as possible.

I just checked in to this thread since it was getting a lot of action....and SO MUCH FAIL IN HERE!

They did this similarly way back when US invaded them and they saw the battleships and copied the techniques. And anyone who wants to make claims that Jap cars can beat American Muscle needs to do some research. The guy who invented the VTEC engine made it for economy purposes. American muscle was made for comfort, style, and performance..... Not gas mileage.
How bout needing 8 cylinders to beat 4? Since thats what everyone is apparently bragging about in here lately. Japanese cars are great in build quality and reliability. Hell the American companies are JUST starting to out-do them in quality....took them long enough. American cars back in the day would never live as long as a jap car. And trust me there are plenty of "jap" cars that would laugh at a third gen. Lancer evolution, STI, Supra, 3000GT turbo......Are you saying these are all slow cars compared to a third gen??

So all those cars you mentioned are slow POS's minus the B20 civic.....and thats the one that beat you yet you are calling them slow? Believe me if you raced a 500 HP honda you would get your @$$ handed to you real good. I know a kid that has one. He runs 10's spinning through 1st and 2nd gear.

Again...lancer evo, STI. My brother's old lancer evo I bet would have handed it to 80% of the cars on this forum and it wasn't modded much at all.

I'm pretty sure any honda with a turbo would most likely beat a stock L98 car. My brother old 90 civic with a VTEC swapped 1.6 engine ran a 15.2 bone stock at 135 HP. A turbo would have easily gotten him around mid 13's at not much boost.

You guys really need to get some experience on the other side of the spectrum before you start talking all this $hit. Between me and my bro we have owned TONS of jap and american cars, and know what can, and has been done with each. Both have strong and weak points but it is so ignorant to say a 4 cyl can't be fast because there are plenty completely stock ones that will eat an L98 3rd gen alive.

I like this posts... the rivalry and different opinions about different cars is one of the main things that keep people wanting their cars to be better. I like turbo cars.. they're great in their own way just like our V8s. I want to buy a Nissan S chassis to drive around having fun while I work on my Firebird. At some point in the future after working on both cars I'll be able to tell which one gave the bang for the buck.. I can't wait!!! I'm nervous too lol

Freind of mine has a nissan 240SX. He had a nasty little turbo KA24 motor in it. Ran a 12.6 in the 1/4 mile! He didn't have a ton of money into it either. His car now is getting a Toyota Supra 2JZ turbo engine and should probably be close to 10's in the 1/4.

Haha, that's pretty funny since the ZR1 destroys pretty much every "jap" supercar out there. And it's about half the price. How about needing a turbo and 3 grand to even keep pace with a v8. Obviously newer technology is going to be better than 20 something years ago. But, you take the new muscle cars of today and they are available for basically half the price of your nissan gt-r, amg and lambos and ferraris. Anyone can put 5 grand into their car and make it fast. I'm not impressed with that. If you want bragging rights you have to have stock vs stock racing. And i'm pretty sure you'll never find the above brands you mentioned with anything stock out racing.

The ZR1 is also a $130k corvette while all the cars I mentioned are around $30k.....and anyways, thats blowing the conversation way out of proportion. Lambos and ferraris are Italian, not jap. Calling them Jap is an insult. And I have seen stock evo's and STI's out racing all the time, and they hold thier own very well. You talk about a mid 13 sec 4 door sedan that stock will out launch, out handle, and get much better gas mileage than our cars yet you make fun of it like it's slow........and all this coming from a guy with a bone stock 200 HP 5.0 TPI in thier car?

I know, tell me about it. I don't really care about Civic hatchback power. I care about 3rd Gen. and in general F-Body power! That's what counts around here!

I am all for my third gen. I've owned tons of other cars all while still hanging onto my car and it is the only one I decided to keep for obvious reasons. I am a die hard third gen fan like any other, but I can't help responding to the ignorance that comes up in here too often. Our cars are not very fast stock. Period. When someone comes in and says all other cars are inferior and slow, and POS's, etc, then you better damn well have something that runs 9's or 10's in the 1/4 to talk all that smack. There are SO many bone stock economy cars that will hand it to a stock third gen.

I've been there done that. It's cool to not like honda's or anything with a 4 banger, but c'mon.......to say none of them are fast even with a turbo? Thats just ignorance. I had that mindset when I was 17. Then my 305 TPI got beat by a stock 95 ford probe GT and a mid 90's grand am. I then realized it was slow and started the modding game and have only gotten knowledge from then on. All I'm trying to do is shed some light on the people that may not know any better.

I don't know why you specifically replied to my comment. I wasn't in on everything that you guys were saying. I just think we should stick to the 3rd Gen's mainly on here because this thread for example is out of hand with the Civic hatchback power which if I wanted to hear about foreign car's or other cars other than our car's then I'd go to their forums and read their stories (which I do sometimes ).

For your entertainment though, 2 years ago when I only had a few mods on my car with the old rear end and old tires (the set-up I had when I ran a 14.0) I got whooped on the highway by a turbocharged Scion TC.

But I'll request this be closed. Have a good night!

Re: HONDA CIVIC SI HATCHBACK POWER!!!!

Maybe your thirdgen is just old and beat up.Idk what you're driving. But, my TA at stock handles the corners much better than my friends STI and his gfs evo. I'm talking about foreign cars here. They are all categorized as foreign if it wasn't made here. I'm still running on stock gatorbacks. The key words are "holding their own". That's pathetic a 20 something year old car and they can't even beat it? That shows how far back they are in the tech run. You take any muscle car and pit it against any jap car stock to stock. 90% of the American made cars would win. i've raced a few a people in the street. And i have the real ricers here. Actually chinese with huge wings and lowered cars to an inch off the floor. They mod like crazy and still lose to me in a stop light race. Our cars were never made for the track. They were made for street racing and leisure driving. There's nothing impressive with making a light P.O.S fast. Anyone can do that. To praise anyone with that type of car is impudent and ignorant on so many levels. You take people who make an SUV at 4000lbs and make them run constant 9-10secs on the track and that's impressive. There's no creativity in jap cars, no styling, and barely any comfort for anyone over 5ft. It's idealism like that, that ruined the countries automotive industry. And for the corvette it's american made, my point is still vaild. Here's the vid just so you don't claim it as false. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OZlGMX8G3B4

I've seen that vid, and believe me I know a lot about the ZR1 and what it is cabable of. I honestly don't know how you claim you "beat" your freinds STI and an evo in handling unless you were actually going around a real race track and racing. I'm not trying to pick on you personally but in all honesty, an STI and evo are better handling cars than ours stock for stock. The facts prove it. Both of those cars will pull .93 G's on the skid pad. Our cars do .87 G's. Not even close. And as far as a persons size being an issue......my freinds have ALL sat in my TA. They ALL say it is way too small for them to drive. With the seat all the way back, thier knees were bent by the steering wheel. And they are all around 5'10 to 6'1. In my TINY 1990 honda hatchback I drive every day, they fit perfectly. F-bodies have always been more suited for the shorter croud.

And why is it not impressive to make a light car with 1.6 liters fast whereas it's cool to make a heavier car with 5.7 liters fast? The fact of the matter is that YOUR personal car runs a 15 second 1/4 mile. I am not making fun of that, just stating that you're at no position to make fun of other cars that would clearly beat you in any race.

Wow, that's a lie. I'm 6'2 and my father is 6'4 and we fit with legs stretched. My 5.0 has beaten the 2 door bmw http://www.bmwusa.com/Standard/Conte...4/Z4sDrive35i/ in a street race. Like i said before, making something that's already light, fast isn't an impressive feat whatsoever. Anyone in the world can do that. And on the corners and through certain roundabout turns is what we raced to. Timed set and whomever was fastest was the winner. It takes real skill to make a heavy machine fast. You can brag all you want about the vtech motors but the variable cams were made for efficiency not racing. Most stock jap cars are not tuned nor made for racing. That's why the torque output is low and they are stuck with 4bangers. My father owned 3 trans ams. And all 3 of them 80,81 turbo and 86 he fit in all of them at 6'4 with plenty of headroom and legroom. Unless you have some custom floorboard where it's shortened you shouldn't be having problems with leg room. Maybe you're bias towards jap cars because you own one. My father has the new challenger rt classic and he obliterated an impreza sti and i keep up with my father when we race he has a higher speedo than me and it's clear that i leave the hole much faster than him. With the right driver a thirdgen can beat most stock jap cars. You can say whatever you like but the more you tell me i can't,the more it just makes me want to prove you wrong.

Guys, guys, you gotta keep the 3rd Gen. prominence in mind here. The 3rd Gen's are also the lightest generation of Camaro's I do believe. Our cars aren't all that heavy and to soup the 350 up to beat other cars of today isn't all that hard to do. It just takes money and the right attitude. You guys bickering back and forth won't make any difference on here or out there. We should be on the same page guys, that's all I'm saying. At least to some extent.

I personally hold high regards for the STI WRX turbo's, the Lancer Evo & Supra's. Those are some of the best Japanese cars that I like even though I could care less about foreign stuff.

There, we got it all out and let's move on shall we?

First of all the only way you would beat that BMW is if he wasn't racing. It has 300 HP....you have 200 and the cars are around the same weight.

I don't want to drag this argument on much more but I'm just going to say that you probably know a lot of people that can't drive. Put me in the seat of the STI, evo, or your fathers RT and I will show you just how much slower the 305 TPI is. The fact is that just because YOU think you beat those cars in handling doesn't mean that you always will. There will be a day where one pulls up next to you with a skilled driver and that will be it. An STI is technically faster than a challenger RT too. They are big heavy cars and run 13.7 or so in the 1/4. The 86 TPI was the slowest one ever made at 205 HP. I'm willing to bet my brothers little 1990 civic with a stock 1.6 engine swap in it would beat it. I'm willing to bet your either not very old or don't have much racing experience at all....nothing wrong with that, but go out and do a little more research on a few of the cars we're talking about. I'm sure you'd be surprised at how respectable they can be.

BTW heres my brother's "POS" honda with about $1200 total into it racing a few other cars. The Lightning at the end of the vid ran a 14.0 in the 1/4 so you have an idea, and the 2 cars he races on the highway he was starting in 4th gear to give them a chance.

The 350 TPI is a totally different animal than the 305 TPI, and ESPECIALLY the 86 305 TPI. Sure they are not much different in HP stock, but adding mods only makes the 350 excel MUCH more than the 305 with equal mods. The car in question in stock form, which it is, is not going to be anywhere near close to beating an STI, evo, challenger RT, or BMW roadster.

I commented on the video you posted about up top. I have much respect for any car with small displacement which can pull on a Lightning truck even though it still won. My uncle who owned a Honda/Acura hatchback CRX back in the day used to race that thing ALL the time! Got alot of tickets, suspended licenses, the works. But even though the speedo went up to like 85mph, he still whooped some butt with that car.

Because ALL you need to get that stroker running is just that 400$ crank, right?

Re: HONDA CIVIC SI HATCHBACK POWER!!!!

I'm not going to waste my energy arguing on the internet. My father shifts by ear and it's an amazing driver. Where i would lose against a car, he would win. The 350 is only 10 hp difference from a 305 and a little bit more cubic inch. I've done so much research on jap cars. I like to know what i'm up against before i race it. I don't take your likes and dislikes personally, nor does it change how i view you. I like some italian made cars and the AMG. Liked the old celicas and eclipses. But, when people praise ricers, that's what i find pathetic

I don't take any argument personally nor do I think any less of whomever I happen to be arguing something with. With that said, I just like to spread a little truth on what jap cars can do when tastefully built......thats all. I would hate for everyone to get thier egos up thinking they'll never get beat by a honda and then one day have it happen. I'm not biased towards any car and would drive anything if given the chance. It's cool to have likes and dislikes though....not everyone is the same.

Any plans on modding your 305 or are you keeping it original?

Wow that's a really good time.. do you know and can you tell me please what are his mods? I love the KA24DE-T.. I use to mess with one in a altima that I use to drive to school (no ricerocket) I consider it a better engine than the SR20.. more potential and those 4 deciliters of displacement make a huge difference when adding a T3/4 turbo. One thing that I dislike about the "Oh so JDM" scene is that they love to put down the USDM parts

As far as I know, his engine consists of...

Forged pistons and rods
slight head port work by him
272 cams
T3/T4 turbo at 17 PSI
Full turbo back 3" exhaust

It def makes way more torque than an SR20 and he loves the KA motors much more than the SR's. I've got a racing vid of me, him, and a few other friends if you want to see his car in action. He races a 404 RWHP supercharged mustang and beats it. Check it out...

This thread has been dragging on for a long time, however in the street racing section I do believe it should be fine to talk about other makes and models to spread knowledge about outcomes of possibles races and what certain cars can do.

I saw a few pics of your car. It's VERY clean. And yes, not too much of mine is stock anymore except how it looks from the outside. It's the orange car in my sig. I have an LSx motor and 6 speed trans going in. Way too much to list lol. Mine had 140k miles on it though, but not a spot of rust. I lucked out!

That's pretty impressive. I don't think i've seen any car with 140k miles on it not have some rust. I'm following your thread, have been for a month now(Project P.I.T.A) Saw your entire barebone chassis pretty clean. Had some seam issues but you fixed them with proper welds.

sorry to break it to you, but even with a turbo,a civic will NOT beat a bolt-on L98.The Civic with a turbo may give the L98 car a "race" but the Civic will struggle.

Actually, all you said was that a turbo honda would not beat a bolt on L98, and I showed you a turbo honda beating a viper. A bolt on L98 is not fast nor will it ever be in todays standards. Trust me I know MANY kids with turbo hondas that would love to embarrass a 350 third gen.

Hondas will make around 300 whp on a bone stock motor with a turbo added. A bolt on L98 is what, 250 whp in a much heavier car? You obviously have never done any research or owned any hondas so you have no clue what you are talking about.

A bolt on L98 certainly isn't.....

Anything can be fast. How deep are your pockets? I'd make a Geo metro fast if you wanted me to.
