That ws6 should destroy that Iroc. If not sell the ws6 instead of the roc.

Or, if you can launch that 6 speed just as quickly as you could the auto iroc, I would say the ws6 has it by a few tenths and a few mph.
Either way its not a dramatic difference in my opinion, I think your right it would be close.

I just mean generally how would the race go with equal drives. IMO I think it would be even for the 1/8 mile with the ws6 winning in the 1/4, but thats just me. From what I read LS1 cars put down anywhere from 305-325rwh, and can run anywhere from 12.7-13.2's.

werent you the guy "get ready for TGO... L98 bolton in the 12s". you were so close, only a few mods and track testing to go. then suddenly you buy a LS1? what made you change your mind?
but to stay on topic... from the mods the Trans Am has, itll probably E/T right around what the IROC does (low 13s... maybe high 12s in the right conditions with a good driver), however, the 4thgen will mph waaaay higher than the camaro due to its increased power
the IROC only runs what it does cause it launches hard. if you were to street race the two where the IROC wont have the advantage of a concrete launch pad and a pre-run burnout, the WS6 will destroy it start to finish

Re: poll added
First off I have wanted a ws6 ram air since I was 12 years old. I found the one above for 12,700 with 22,000 orginal miles on the car. I really couldnt pass it up. My best run with the Iroc was 13.2. I can probably get the LS1 in the low 12's high 11's with just bolt ons.
i know all about the capabilities of a 4thgen LS1 with full boltons, but you asked what would the outcome be between your two cars. as it sits (according to your first post) alls the T/A has is a catback and a K&N. so it wont do much better than the high 12s/low 13s i posted above
again, on the track, it will be a close race. on the street, it will be all LS1 from beginning to end

dont get me wrong, im not trying to bash you or anything. i wouldnt have passed on the T/A either. you just seemed so passionate about getting the IROC to go 12s with boltons, and were so close, i just wondered why you gave up so suddenly. now i know

Air lid/Headers/Intake/Maf/1.8 rockers/ with 3.73's and a tune, along with my cat back and k&ns. Hopefully with those mods and some stickys I can get 12.0's at 115ish?? Not sure on the trap.

My plans for the ws6 is to keep it stock for a while then shoot for 400rwh with

do the mods u listed, throw in a better clutch, a short throw, and a few suspention peices and i think high 11s at 115 is doable in the right conditions (air, track prep, driver skill). dont know if the weak 10 bolt will hold up to the launches youll need to pull off to get that E/T though (1.8/1.7 60fts). a manual trans is alot harder on drivetrain parts than an automatic
either way, good luck with it. its a sweet car

Re: poll added
id go with 4.10s. the car has 3.42s from the factory correct? its not really worth the expense of a gear swap just going from 3.42s to 3.73s. with the 6speed, mpg wont really suffer and 6th gear will actually be usable below 80mph. LS1s should have come with 4.10s from the factory

Re: My new 98 ws6 vs my 89 iroc z
I had to vote the IROC b/c it takes a decent driver to get a stock WS6 into low 13's/ high 12's along with good tires.
same for the IROC but a full bolt on ls1 has 325 rwhp give or take so it should be close
nvm the IROC has a 305...i was thinking it was a 350
that should have 3.42 being a 6 speed. my bud has 4.10's in his 12 bolt and only runs like 2100 at 75mph

Re: My new 98 ws6 vs my 89 iroc z
where did u see that? my buddy has a good tune full bolt-ons minus ls6 intake and only made 325. That is hard to believe that a stock WS6 makes almost 350rwhp. Have a dyno sheet? im not trying to come off a pric just cant believe it w/o proof.

The average stock LS1 will dyno between 310 and 325rwh. Do some research if you would like. Heres one article.

Re: My new 98 ws6 vs my 89 iroc z
i have done research on this before, all of the ls1's i could find dynod from 290-320 depending on mods. a full exhaust will get most right around 330-350 but just strictly cat-backs w/o a cutout wont pull 350
whats your elevation with that hp number?

Re: My new 98 ws6 vs my 89 iroc z
That sounds about right. Some dynos are way off, and alot depends on the conditions. But in the end the L98 cant match the LS1 numbers with out internal work, or a power adder.
