305 TBI VS. 97 Silverado & 94 Celica

I know a couple people at school who have keyed my car and slashed my t-tops and kicked my front grille in, and they never got in trouble for it. And now they want to race, and I figure if I beat them that'd be pretty sweet! They are both hicks, one has a '97 Silverado (3 door) 5.7 with 250hp, and the other drives a rusty '94 Celica with 135hp. Can I win?

Also, any funny suggestions on other ways of payback that isn't over the line? There's no excuse for purposely destroying a well kept thirdgen, I had to pay $500 to fix all that damage.

Thanks!

You should be able to take them, but if they truly were the ones that messed with our car, that may not help your situation. It could make them mad enough and prompt them to do worse. Are there any camera's in the lot where you park your car? You may want to ask security, if there is any. Such vandalism is a serious criminal offense.

It was them, they bragged about it to their friends, and I tried to get the school involved but the camera was not by my car so nothing could be done. And the police won't do anything. It's $20 for a new factory grill, I got a hell of a deal on some new T-tops in great condition, and I got them for $75 because the guy felt bad. The key caused the most damage, it'll be hundreds to repair. I did buff it and it got hard to see.

I always park my car right by camera's now. And I never bring the new T-tops to school.

I want to burn their cars lol.

Re: 305 TBI VS. 97 Silverado & 94 Celica

stupid high school kids do not value third gens. i have been doing body work on my car so its been rather dusty and some people get a kick drawing male body parts on my windows. the other day some one put wrappers under my wipers. I narrowed it down to 4 possible people that park around me, and i told them if things keep occurring, i dont care who it was, but all would get owned.

amazingly the next day, my car was untouched

back on topic, its not worth racing. if you win or lose you still will have consequences

a) you win, they get mad and they can keep it up
b) you lose, the talk trash..ect ect and gets you angered

My speedo is broken, it says 121,610, but going by several mechanics opinions, and by CarFax records, we estimate that it is around 125,000. I'd look at the suspension, if there's rust, I'd say 130k. I highly doubt it has 230k. You could have a CarFax run on it and that would also give you a good idea. What'd you pay for it?

Not a bad deal, I got mine for $3,000 from Orlando, Florida (no rust!!). Then put $1,300 into the repairs it needed like a new TB, manifold, fuel pump, distributor, cap and rotor, and I had to rewire some of the interior lights and fix some fuses. A lot of money for an RS Camaro. But I love the car.

What would racing them prove? Think about it. If they damaged your car for no reason(unprovoked I'm sure ) then what do you think they'll do if you beat them in a race? Yeah we had our spat in the other thread but I'm being serious now...you would have to assume that if you beat them in a race they'll get pissed off and further damage your car.

I agree, try racing people who have not already vandalized you, NO good will come from that.

Man, the mean streets of Wisconsin...

5spd maybe....most lo3's are worn and crap. Combine that with rpm blazing 1500rpm stall and 2.73 gearing...or if your lucky 3.08's(most i see)

its sad when you see trucks running with cars

Bone stock? The only way that's happening is if the track on a 800ft decline.

We have some of the best tracks in the country around here in regards to prep and elevation, I've yet to see a verified bone stock LO3 run a 15.0

If you READ what I said, it didn't refer to the car you mentioned being an auto, but an auto TPI (faster than ANY LO3) barely being able to run the 15.0 you claim you have seen.

If you need more explanation into what I said, print it out and bring it to someone else and have them explain it to you!

I have raced my buddies IROC with the LB9 and i took him by 1 - 2 car lengths. His IROC has a rebuilt LB9 with the 700r4 and i have the LO3 with T 5 with 220K+ miles on it.

If you have an LO3, and your beating LB9 cars, the guy who owns the LB9 should probably be worried.

What Mustangs did you beat with the LO3? What 1/4 mile times did it run, what mods? We need more info on all of this than just, "I beat Mustangs". Do I doubt it, no of course not, but there needs to be a reason as to why a higher 15 second car is beating mid 14 second cars!

I came back again!

im sorry...but as much i hate mustangs, you must of been racing v6's.

I have driven MODIFIED Lo3 f-bodies and they dont move out of their own way.

Only lo3 that ive driven that was ok fast, was a head/cam/intake lo3. Sadly it ran 14.4 at teh track lol

a lot are ******* hacked though

Reason its hard to get a lb9/m5 is people who own them dont wanna sell them

So what track times have you run, with or without the headers and posi??? I'm sorry, I really only speak in track times, but if your eating them for lunch, I would assume mid to lower 13s for your car?

Mustang guy i have never taken my car to the track not yet anyway, but i do from time to time do a little street racing, kinda like you according to the latest thread you posted. My car can out run a lot of mustangs now i don't care how you spin it. And you really only speak in track times so i really can't answer you question, but i can tell you this when im finished with my car it will be named the rustang thrasher.

Simply put the LB9 is a Z28/Iroc-z exclusive motor. The LB9 is a TPI 305 motor, factory rated at 230hp. It was used in Camaro's from 1985 (?) to 1992. The LB9 was available with a four speed automatic overdrive or five speed manual, which made the motor a bit more popular because the L98 Iroc's did not come with 5 speeds.

The L03 is a 305 TBI injected motor that was used in RS's Camaro's as a secondary engine to the 3.1 V6. The L03 has 170hp and 255 ft. lbs. torque. Came in four speed automatic and five speed manual. I believe the L03 was also in some Formula's... I'm not really a bird guy so I'll let others justify that. I believe the L03 first appeared in the '87 RS Camaro's, and was continued in the RS cars until 1992 when the fourth gen Camaro came out.

That is the SIMPLE version of the differences of these motors.

Well without any timeslips, it is hard for me to understand how fast your car actually is? Are we talking in terms of a 10-11 second car, or a 14-15 second car? Yes you street race, which I have done a few times in the past (not sure what relevence that has, I have track times, if that is what you meant?), but street races don't tell the whole story. They give good conversation, and provide some fun, but noone knows anything from a street race, other than the fact one particular car beat one other particular car.

Call your car what you will, I'm sure there are thousands of "rustangs" out there for you to "thrash". Just at some point get some track times for me? Thanks!
