Well it just happened not even half an hour ago. So i was driven home down a road with 3 lanes in one direction and 2 in the other (Phoenix has big roads hehe).We both were coming up to the light. I was in the center lane and the eclipse was in the left lane. I was cruising up next to him at a normal speed but not next to him just yet. Right as I got next to him, he just eases into my lane. WTF! I swerve outta the way to avoid him hitting me. At this point I am still passing him. I look over and the f***** is on his cell phone and gives me this dirty a$$ look. He looked at me like it was my fault. I was pissed. So we are rolling up to the stoplight, and its about to turn green. I wasn't expecting a race out of this, so I didn't throw any revs at this guy. We are rollin about 5-10 mph and the light turns green. I ease into the throttle, normal driving, but since my exhaust is so aggresive, it made it sound like I was taking off. WHAAAAA I hear his engine just start screamin, so I say, f*** this guy and get into it. I pull on him and he stays at my rear fender. I hear his car just revving all out, and I am to the floor. Next thing you know he shifts and I hear his blow off valve. TURBO. OH ****! I thought he was just gonna start pulling hard on me. Nada. Not an inch. Lol. I guess after a little bit, he gets tired of it and eases off and I pull away. I move into his lane. Well douche bag over here decides hes gonna come up behind me and tailgate!! Mother F*****!! I just gun it and leave his a$$. I get through the next light and turn off down my street. The End!

Yeah so, I was pretty pissed at this guy, but I was impressed that my car actually stood her ground!! Good ol' L69! I'm gonna need to thank my exhaust upgrade for winning that race.

I decided to look up the specs on the 1995-1999 Eclipses, and the turbo cars only have 210 hp stock!! Sweet! My car must be making something around there!

Theres a turbo ecplise in my area. Has an exhaust and who knows what else. Ran low 15's, probably could go high 14's at a good track with a good driver.

Your car is probably making the same amount of HP as the eclipse, but more torque of course.

Shoulda run from a stop, it would be even more of a killing. They are decent cars, and can mod up pretty fast, but FWD will never be able to out-launch rwd. Gotta love smoke'n da imports.

I wouldve slammed on the brakes if he was tailgating me. That would have taught him a lesson. Anyway, good to hear another victory for an L69. Ill have to line you up with my MSE one of these days....since were both in Phoenix.

That, and your in the same car club as me, so theres an even better chance! But I have a feeling you would take me, cause you have 3.73 gears and I am pretty sure I have 3.42's. Ah well, we will see if we line em up!

Ever take your car to the strip? The one you ran was it a stock turbo car or a basic model with a turbo thrown on it? AWD?
My cousin has a early 90's Talon AWD turbo. He just had the motor rebuilt and everything else is still stock.....turbo, intercooler, exhaust. We just went to the track and he ran a best of 14.1 on 14lbs. of boost. He has yet to really tune the car and turn the boost up.
Good kill either way. To bad the guy was a d!ck you could have found out what you killed.

yea to whoever said if you went from a dig you wouldve raped him you do know that eclipses did come AWD too. its either a gst or gsx, gst is FWD turbo and gsx is AWD turbo. if it was AWD he would be the one to get raped if the guy knew how to launch with it.

AWD owns the launch, but hurts the top end. And, you really gotta know what your doing to get the most from an AWD laucnh, most guys either chicken out and bog, or break things just dumping the clutch. Especially at the strip, AWD requires careful handling to get the most w/o breaking stuff.

Yea, I know the GST is the turbo FWD, and the GSX is the heavier 4wd car. Not to mention, if he was pulling him from rolls, I'm sure he'd be ok from a stop, if the car was falling back on the roll, I doubt it would have the power to really come out of the hole with AWD.

I came to the forums to post my kill, and I saw this.

I decided that I'll add onto this thread considering I just beat an 1995-1999 Talon TSI.. He came flying up on my *REAR END* and got in the lane next to me. I look over and im like oh great another 4 cylinder that thinks he has a chance. He rolls down his window and is like: "stop at that next flashing yellow, well see what we got from a dead stop" I'm like.. does this guy want to loose? So as we are aproaching the light, im slowing down, eventually downshifting my 700r4 into 2nd, he said go, I gave him a moment of gunning it then I laid into the pedal, Rear end kicks out a bit, revs up, shifts, rear end kicks out once more and im scooting right past him. Ended up going to 80'ish and I was like 2-3 car lengths ahead of him. I let off the gas to slow down and this guy is still going full throttle. As he passes me I can hear the blow off valve of his turbo. Coming up to the red light, I say to him "Ive got a 357, what do you got" He's like "Ive got a little 4 cylinder with a turbo" I was like, is that a TSI? and he answered "yup" My car is TOTALLY not tuned out, even the timing was done by ear. My carb needs rejetting badly, and my fuel pump cant keep up with my engine so it ends up cutting out if im gunning it past 80.

We ended up fooling around, racing while starting at 45mph. His car pulled ahead of mine a little bit but mine quickly caught up and went right past him.

I was really damn surprised. I'm starting to think that my car is faster than I think it is.

Its tough when street racing, because you never know what you're up against. A older TSI is a low low 13 second car with about $1000 in bolt on mods. But you could have been racing a guy with burned up turbo, beat tranny, etc, you just don't know.

A street race can also make you go, damn, my car is slow - I did that to a guy with a lightly modded Grand Prix GTP with 4 door Ford Contour with its whole 2.5 liters of all motor power. Guy must have tried me 3 times, couldn't understand how a smaller, naturally aspirated motor could pull his supercharged ride. (Power to weight ratio means nothing to some people, if its go a big motor, its supposed to be fast!) I've been on the recieving end of that too, being the tough guy I am, I threw some revs at a beat Civic with 4 kids and mis-matched wheels at the gas station earlier this year in the same Contour SVT mentioned above. The guy pulled out, we raced, I watched a Civic loaded with people pull hard amounts of rubber in first, second, and third, and still get by me going all out. Couldn't miss the sound of a super charger, he was making all kinds of power.
