tonite i was picking my friend up and on the way home me and my friend and it was a little late so we were going kinda fast. well i look back and there is this civic riding my ***. i was sititng there wondering y he didnt go around. well we turn on to a road that is a wide open road with no cars. 2 lanes and cement median. well i turn and he is right on my *** and he floors it and and get to my rear quater panel and i floor it and by the end of first i have like 2 cars on him. i stop at about 80 and had about 5 car lenths im guessing. kinda hard to guess at night probly more but im just being safe and saying 5. then i brake and get down to like 60 and he does a damn ***** fly-by. i looked and he had a stock looking exuast and sounded like he has a cold air intake. those eruo lights or whatever. the clear ones. he stoped at a light a little farther up ahead and me and my friend were laughing so hard becasue he had his gf in the car with him.man i gotta love rwd v8 domestics

Goodkill man, Look out for a newer SI though....it should make for a better race. But as a general rule of thumb, if it's a honda, don't even bother. Unless you know its worked out. Not worth the time or gas IMO. Goodkill again!

You CAN tell by the sound of it. It's easy if you know what to listen for. Even my GF could hear it in her friend's Eclipse, then surprised the hell out of him by asking if he had a CAI.

I generally don't mess with Honda's. A guy in a newer Si tried to race me once, he was boosted. Said he had 210 HP up from his stock 160. 210 HP isn't much of a race.

And I've beaten older Civics with my Suburban before too. Can't hang with the 7.4L terror.

wont happen. civics are too slow. a stock caravan can take one.

edit: only if you put a v8 in it and make it rwd. then maybe.

I know I've said this a million times, but my Integra would have smoked most of the people on this board, and it wasn't even that fast.

15 psi worth of turbo actually. The motor and all the suspension (down to the hubcaps) was all stock though. You would have never guessed what was coming.

Nah. It had 170,000 miles on it. It eventually blew a ring (I could still smoke the tires in 3rd gear on only 3 cylinders). It probably would still be running if I didn't ghetto rig the map sensor so the check engine light would stop coming on and putting the car into limp mode. A factory Honda map sensor freaks out at about 11 psi of boost when you have a piggy back fuel management set up. If I ever build a turbo car again, I'll do it right and get a full stand alone.

hey man thanks for sticking up for third gens!

no the 3.1 is not fast. Its faster than the old carbed V8 305 though. Top speed and acceleration. Kind of sad.

And you give most of the people on this board half the boost you ran and slicks, and the story is totally different. I wonder how many Hondas from the 80s like 3rd gens would keep up with one, stock for stock? Or for that matter, how many Hondas from the 80s (especially mid to early 80s) are even on the road and running still?

My brother is a proud Honda owner and tuner, no ***** by any definition, and I've learned that there are a few truths about Hondas that most people here won't accept:

1. They are extremely reliable, even with little maintenance.
2. Because of having no weight and deep gears from the factory, they are pretty quick for their displacement, and can be made reasonably quick fairly easily.

BUT

He will also tell you himself that they are impractical for drag racing, and that's why he also owns a BBC Chevelle.

And for the few educated tuners like yourself that actually do have decently fast Hondas, there are leagues and leagues and leagues of people with stock 1.6 SOHC Civics or 4cyl Accords who get walked again and again on the streets by things like 3.1 V6 Cavaliers and Ford Taurus SHO's, so though there may be someone on here who gets killed by a Honda every once in a while, you'll see 500 of these threads before it happens. Lots of thirdgens with ignorant drivers get walked as well, but at least usually by respectable cars.

I've got a friend with a 2.3 liter Mustang 4cyl LX that's turbocharged and has some machine work in the heads and intake who would also kill a lot of people on here in a race, but that doesn't change the fact that the average 4cyl LX is ungodly slow!

And now my apologies for contributing to the hijacking of this thread, lol.

Well yeah, I'm not saying that 99% of Hondas are slow, and 99.99% of 'modded' Hondas are just tacky POS' driven by high school drop outs. I just get bothered when people group things all together. What is the fastest, non-top fuel dragster car out there currently? Does anyone know?

Moderator with the fast cars: Of course you would. You clearly fall into the group of members that isn't classified as "most." Don't think I'm all high and mighty, I lost nearly every race I ever had when I went to the track, many times to slower cars. I just get irritated when people with slow cars act all bad *** because their cars could be fast.
