A Dodge

Took out a 93' Dodge Ram 1500 2wd 318. I know thier not that fast but very respectable. Launched even with the Roc'
I'm guessing it wasn't stock or it had 4.11 gears.

I looked it up:

230 hp
300 Ft Lbs Tq

Anyone know what these bad boys run in the 1/4?

Well, seeing as a brand spankin' new Hemi Ram will turn very high 14s I have to think an older 318 would be a fair bit slower than that - maybe high 15s.

My Ranger 4x4 came with 3.73 gears from the factory so 4.10s wouldn't be out of the question. Nice kill!

yeah those things run mid 15's, not all that slow for a truck, but still slow.

I have a 99 Dakota R/T. With like a half ***'d CAI and a side exit, mufflerless catback on it.

For a truck it pulls hard. Other R/T guys tell me it's a freik. I am positive I could get this thing into a low low 14 if I took it to the track.

I have to admit. Comparing the GM TPI to the MPFI of Dodge, I'd have to go with Dodge for "fun from the factory" motors.

But, they run like two 1 5/8 exhaust collectors from the manifolds into the CAT. A set of hedders and a 3" Y and it would be well into 13's. You can feel how restrictive the exhausts are on these things.

I have a 98 Grand cherokee with a 318, theres very little done to it, it has flowmaster exhaust and a gutted cat, mopar performance 8mm wires, bosch 4 plugs, kn filter and i only use synthetic oil, im not sure how much of power diference that gave but i noticed it did run smoother. But for a 5000+ lb. truck it moves pretty quick, it has a dana 3.73 posi in the rear. It can keep up pretty well with my friends 5.7 Iroc. I must say though i would really like to take one of the 5.9 cherokees for a ride, theres one for sale near me with a flowmaster 1 chamber and dual pipes coming out in front of the rear wheels. I really want to hear what that sounds like.

Yeah, it's very Ironic that I raced one, because my dad just bought one a few days after this post!

SAME EXACT truck..although stock.

I must say, it pulls like a **** from 10-50 mph. Atleast untill the top of the radiator blew..

I bet they could take on some 305 irocs.

318s can handle a lot of nitrous. I saw an article in a magazine where a junkyard 318 took something rediculous like 300 plus shot of nitrous, good motor for sure.

I've been told the 5.9 Magnums love nitrous. They hit low 13's high 12's with just CAI, exaust, and a 150 shot.

As for the 305 TPI, I've taken 3 Irocs at least two were 5.7 tpi badged, and the other was on the highway, and he rolled on me to start, and I never saw behind the back of his door, so I don't know what it was, but it put up a better fight than the other 2 from a dig.

Update:

The Dodge Truck My Dad purchased is haulin ***

1 7/8 headers with 2 3/4 y pipe (biggest they had) with a 3 inch glass pack cat back and a new trick intake setup. It could give my L98 Iroc a run for its money

Now picture that, but in a regular cab dakota with 3.92 gears.

The one big probelm with the 5.9 is there is a flat spot in the power band from 2500-3000, but after 3000 it pulls hard.

Well my dads is a 318. But yes it does have a flat spot in the lower rpm, but after that it pulls like a mother fu****.

Factory 4.10 gears kick ***.

I have a 2001 Ram with the 5.2L V8 and it is decent. No 1/4 racer but I have taken out a few TBI's before and some imports. Best time in it was a slow 16.8@75mph. Uncorrected of course. So maybe around a low 16 at level.

There;s a guy with a built Lightning here in Ottawa that put down 497rwhp and over 600rwtq. He's running a JL shortblock, stock haeds and cam, and a kenny Bell Blowzilla. Those trucks are nuts.

He's selling it for $30G canadian.

Well I know what I run, a 13.6 at 105 mph. And a couple of months ago I was in traffic and changing lanes. A Jeep Grand Cherokee came up on my *** weaving in and out of traffic so I thought I'd show him what an actual fast car looks like taking off. So he got a little jump going around me and I hit it. I did start walking him, but not like I thought I would. I have walked 4.6 mustangs a lot harder than I did that Jeep. When I let him go around he gave me a thumbs up and looked suprised I had passed him like that. I guess he didn't realize how suprised I was. Kind of freaked me out.

Even the SRT-10 kind of hits a brick wall on the highway, due to it's aerodynamics. Anyone know it's top speed?

I raced a lightning on the freeway awhile back, all I had was a bullet muffler, nothing else, and pulled on him after 80. Pulled pretty hard too, I guess his truck just didn't like the dynamic pressure of the air.. probably because it looks like a brick haha

Yeah those lightning's lose some muscle up high but down low they out right mean. I ran one at our local 1/8 track and he ran an 8.4 to my 8.7. I think i could have gotten him if I wasn't on street tires though

No one with a fast car should ever be afraid to race an SRT-10 IMO.

Well Good thing you don't have a car, saves ya the trouble of worrying about it doesn't it. HAHA but ya I thought the SRT 10's were alot faster than they are before I looked at the #'s on it. I'd race one now.

Well ya WRecked the civic< thanks by the way did us all a favor, and you don't have one listed. So either you don;t know how to put one inyour profile or you don't have a car. So actually you kinda said that yourself.

Stu had a car that ran 13.8 a mile above seal level. It was basically faster than the average car here on TGO by far. The best thing that Stu does for us as a favor is to make his wit understandable.

Stop baiting stu, just because he doesn't drive a thirdgen is no reason for you to start an argument with him, especially one that's completely off topic for the thread. Send him a private message if you feel the need to instruct him on how to use the message board.

I'm unbaitable, that's my game. Just for the record though, not only did I not own a Civic, but I never wrecked the car I did own. I did however sell the shell on Thursday.

I was sad that I never got to race an SRT-10 (I would have beaten it pretty good). The only Dodges I had available to race were either 19 second beaters, or 12 second ATS Diesels. The year before my car was turboed ATS sponsored the Club Clash events all year and were always there with their fast trucks. Well.....until they broke them all, then they stopped coming to the track.
