combination to win help
i have a 85 camaro and one of my brothers friends wants to race me. Hes about 40-45 and has plenty of money to spend on his car im 16 and dont have a lot probably about 1000-1500 to put into the car. i need suggestions for a combination that works and is cheap. my car has no emissions equipment and is a sport coupe so power nothing. any info would be very highly appreciated.

Power = $
How fast do you want to spend?
If he has more money expect him to buy enough stuff to make his car faster. With your limited budget your best hp/$ mod would be in the form of a spray.

You don't have to pay a dime to win. Grab a knife from the kitchen, cut his tires.
J/k don't do that.

Get a 2 stage nitrous setup and some sticky tires. When you launch, spray the first 250 shot and then when you hit 2nd gear, spray the 500 shot....your 305 wont last past that first shot and if it does, youll rip him a new *******...then takethat 50 bucks and drop another 305 in your car

performer intake is good, the 700r4 will hold torque, put in a new cam for $200 Comp Cams, Lunati, Etc. you have 416's? have the guides machined for a larger lift, refresh the valves with 1.94's and port your own heads. You might also need new roller rockers, $250-$300 bucks go with steel ones. Easy win and will put you in the 300hp mark just will kill your gas mileage. So $1000 max and you have a whole new car. P.S you can get a running 305 or 350 with a flat tappet cam for $50-150.

I think he's got a sleeper car (just my 2 cents), but please post the results after the race. I don't know too much about GM cars. (I owned a '73 Nova 4-door with a 250 I6 before I had my license, two '80s V6 G-Bodies and a couple of 3rd Gen TPI 350 Camaros on nitrous after I got my license). A '75 Nova with a 454 or 502 motor would be too obvious once the hood was popped. (No way to hide those huge valve covers or the hose from the water pump to the intake). The "stock crate GM 350" could actually be anything from a wimpy 283 to a stout 406 based on Chevy's block or up to a 455 with a Pontiac... . If you had plenty of money and a '75 Nova, what would you drop in the engine bay?
