new vette goes down!
I finally got my wish guys! i've been wanting to get next to a "newer" vette since forever and it finally fell in my lap today...a brand new one at that. I took him out clean from a dig and then at the next light he signalled me quickly and I dropped my window, he said "how about a 35mph roll start because his tires are not up to the task to launch hard from a dig". I said ok and little did he know because he didn't even make it to 2nd gear before I completely raped him! lol. I went up to like a 100mph then let off and he came up, gave me the classic thumbs up and then sped off. With a full computer and A/F ratio tune the car put down 447hp and 498 ft lbs of grunt and on top of that I have a 150hp NX kit which I plan to bolt on for this season and wipe the competition clean!

for an investment close to 50grand, i'd be raging mad if I got my *** handed to me by a 19year-old thirdgen lol!. I have almost 15g's total in my Z not counting the cost of the car.

those ls1's, cobras, gto's and vettes are in for a rude awakening this season and its even gonna be more fun because its going to be my first time at the track(racing competitively) since i built the car almost 2years ago...the motor has about 3500miles on it since the build so its still fairly "green".

Finally. Hey are you racing in Club Clash this year? That's what I did for the past two years, but now I don't have a car anymore, and a lot of those guys are just doing Friday night ET's since you can win money. Let me know and maybe I'll come out to the track to check you out sometime this summer if I've got the time/money. The guys I'm talking about are all from www.highaltitudeimports.com. The board was started so guys who bracket raced together could keep in touch over the winter, but now has grown into a much bigger thing. The guys who go to the track are the mostly serious ones though.
Oh yeah, and what part of town was this in?

Stu it was somewhere in northglenn and for some reason that part never has traffic if any at all so it was the perfect time and place. As for the club clashes i'm currently working on getting friday nights off from my job even if its for the first couple months of the season so i can get in it. If it works out though i'll definitely hit you up and let you know when i'll be there.

Last year my cousin raced with us in Club Clash with his '96 Power Stroke. Our team name was Colorado Import Alliance. The guys in the tech tent laughed at him. lol. I love racing up at Bandimere and will miss it dearly this year.
I hope I can win the power ball without even playing it so I can go back this year.

It's sitting in my parents garage with no motor or turbo parts waiting for someone to buy it from me so I can finish paying of this other crap I bought. Have you decided if you'll run in Club Clash or Friday night ET's yet? If it's Club Clash, let me know what club you'll be racing in. Corvette Connection is the club to beat by the way.

Why are you trying to rain on this guy's parade anyway? He didn't talk down about the Vette, he just said that he always wanted to beat a new one, and that's exactly what he did? What makes you feel the need to defend the new Vette? We're all perfectly aware of what they are capable of...

we get alot of this apples to oranges comparisons here for some reason. i understand that hes really excited about his accomplishments about beating a new Vette (hell i would if it were my car), and i believe 406TA understood this. what he was trying to say is that for 50k, you dont just get a car thats good in a straight line, but its the total package: braking, handling, interior comfort thats light years beyond a thirdgen, a full warranty, etc.

No, what he's saying is that for $50,000 you still don't get a car that will hang with a car that has almost 500hp at the rear wheels at this altitude. I'll just wait till he posts again, I'm sure just like everyone else in the world, this gentlemen wouldn't turn down a C6 Corvette if given the chance.

Stu..the thing those guys don't seem to understand is you and I are living at an altitude that "supposedly" eats up 15% of horsepower and I still have the potential to run 11's up here. Let me loose at a sea level track and see what happens.

Nice ride man. When im done with my formula she will be right up there with you but instead of NOS going to go the ATI route for the totall wipe.
I used to be like you building my car up just waiting to go vette and stang hunting on a summer afternoon.
After 5 years of engine building and headaches. I went out and bought a 99 C5 6-speed.
Ironic huh , lol Let me tell ya I have had alot of 3rd gens, one 4th gen LT1 and now my vette.
3rd gens the TPI great motor back in the day stock. Where most cars didnt have close to 245 hp.
Now days seems every car has atleast that no matter the type. My vette is fast only because of the weight ratio combined with the powerplant.
However the most kicking car was that damn LT1 4TH GEN Z28.. that damn thing would move out stock. Now this is on a releative scale here when saying the motor pound for pound was just nasty.. I regret selling that car..
But a vette is just that and theres nothing that can replace that feeling rideing in one,, maybe a viper ,, still to be determinded im considering trying one out lol.
Now when i get my L98 done it will scream.. and im sure it will be a blast.. in the 500 hp range.
bottom line is they are all are fun cars.. with differences nothing will handle as good as my vette even with stock c5 suppension. Nothing will handle my L98 on stright track. The 4th gen was a combo of both power and handling considering specs of each car.
In short I have no clue, im just rambling on but *** bless anything GM made from 04 and piror. Becuase what they are making now is CRAPPPPPP !!!! C6 excluded. And GTO minus the body of the car lol
However i have a 04 colorado its a 5 cyl that puts out 220 horses and deffinatly usable. Go fiqure
Honestly though if i had to do it all over again i would just go get a C5 ZO6 and put on a supercharger and be done with it, all for around 35 grand and have a 500hp plus car. Reason why its a vette

Seriously though, since you've already owned you're share of third generations, then you must know by now that there is absolutely no feeling in the world after winning... knowing you're car was built by you.
Somehow a purchased supercharged ZO6 (although would dominate on the street), isn't as rewarding as opposed to building a project from the ground up....

chicks is right
when its all done its like dude its a vette the most powerfull car you can get short of extoic. Viper to me is extoic
But i hear what your saying. Building something from the ground up is rewarding when your done, but be prepared to suffer alot of headaches on the way , take in my case no garage, and not many people where i live build high preformance motors and the ones that do are only building pro street motors for drag. they dont have time to worry about wimpy 383 strokers. Where i live engine building is a dying profession, Nowdays crate motors rule. Back to saying forget it and just throw on a supercharger mentality.
However i agree its nutz to spend 50 grand on a new C6 when for that money you could have a 455 pointiac thumper custom twin turbos added in for one scary ride...

Ive had 2 third gens (85 IROC, 91Z28) and i have drove a few C4's and C'5's. I think Camaro has always been the "poor-mans" vette. The Vette is the flagship but the F body (R.I.P) always gets the leftovers. GM always detunes them a bit, (no 5 spd manual for L98) but the third-gen is very equivelent to any pre 92 C4. I like the lines of a nice third-gen better than a C4 any day. When i have the cash i may buy a C5 someday. But, ill stick with my ol L98 for now.
Nice kill BTW. your car is a monster indeed

i forgot to mention vette parts are ridiculously expensive. probably 1.5 times more $$$ than an F-Body with the same motor and drive-train

I'd sure take a 'vette if it was offered to me, and give it to the wife. Corvettes are really good cars, but I can't touch the price on them at all, hence why I have two poor man's 'vettes. (gee, does that mean I have one and a third of a Corvette...?)

If I had my way i'd get one of the 4th gen ZL1 camaros(if its possible get one anyway) and call it a day...all the they want is a supercharger making a "LAME" 8psi and that all aluminum 427 will put out 750-800hp

Must be nice to have a fast car.
Amazingly good kill man, nothing like saying your 80's 3rd gen can outrun brand new Corvettes.

Why would the Vette guy do that? He got beat by a pretty stout "race car" with over 15 grand in it. If he beat me I sure wouldn't slit my wrists.

( Why would the Vette guy do that? He got beat by a pretty stout "race car" with over 15 grand in it. If he beat me I sure wouldn't slit my wrists.)
IT WAS A JOKE OK! HA! HA! HE! HE!
Do you understand why now? Or should I elaborate further? If you want I can send you some VHS tapes my little girls have with the Muppets Show puppets teaching you how to kid around with your friends on the internet. Just let me know I'll send them to you right away!

I didn't think you were serious about him killing himself, wise guy.........
I just made a comment that I wouldn't be too upset losing to him.......
And sure, I'll take the muppet tapes of yours by the way
Some people just get too fired up too easily nowadays.......

I'am not upset at your statement I just thought it was a really silly question for comment that was made for fun. Beside this thread is for congrats to the guy that beat the vette not how you would feel if you lost a race.

Hey Dano, what do you mean by "a stout race car" or did you mean a stout street car? because it doesn't get trailered ANYWHERE. As a matter of fact i'm now in Indiana for the indy 500 and I drove it all the way from denver to here with zero problems...A/C on and was still averaging 23-24mpg with the temp guage locked at 180 deg.!!. The trip was a lot of fun too as i engaged in a few sprints here and there with unsuspecting motorists lol!.

Yeah, your right. I shoulda said stout street car, although from what I see you have in your motor it could go either way, pretty stout race car or very stout street car Don't get me wrong, I'm not taking anything away from you as I'd be very happy to beat a new vette also......or have your car Congrats for having a very nice combo there!!
Do you have any pics of it? I'd like to see it if you do.....

As I would very much love to see the car and the engine! Also yours too Dano. What are the specs on your engine and what did you do to your suspension to get those track times of yours. My third gen is almost complete and I want to get any info I can to get my times low without NOS and supercharge.
