88 305 tbi camaro

ok well my friends car is stock. the other night the ground was still a little wet out and i ran into him. he tryed to get away from me so i stayed behind him then he finally stoped at a gas station and my friend in my car started yelling your car's slow. then the kid driving the 88 is like your the one having a hard time keeping up. i was like its wet out if i punch it i spin, if my rpms go over 3g's i spin. i can punch it from a stop i wont go anywhere. i cant punch it around a turn i have posi you dont so i get sideways. i didnt have a chance to tell him this because he went in the store. then he came out and i left. then i seen him coming up behind me when i was almost completly stoped at a stop sign. then i ssee him in my mirror swerve and punch it to blow the stop sign and pass me. well what did i do, i eased into 1st then gunned it and hit second, car kicked out a little and then i was right there on his ***. like i took of when his front bumper was at my back and when we got like 100 feet i was at his back bumper. now he thinks his car is faster then mine. cause i couldnt get traction. hopefully he races me now. before he wouldnt.
anyways what do those cars run stock? 15.9?
i think if i race him i gonna tell him to get behind me a couple cars and take off and ill wait til he gets next to me before i take off.

i know dumb. i never do it either. thats why i didnt want to give the car all it had cause it would brake loose and w/e all kinds of bad things could happen. it wasnt really a race tho. more like i was trying to stay behind him and he was trying to loose me. so it was basically he would have wrecked first. cause i wasnt about to rip up the wet road to fly past him. i was just trying to follow him and get him to stop so i can see what they where doing that night.

Car: 89 Camaro RS
Engine: 350 carbed now
Transmission: World Class T5
Axle/Gears: Peg Leg w/ 3.73's
If he has an auto L03 car he is running a 15.9 at best I assume since you have a posi that your car is an L69 car with 3.73 gears if so youll beat him by a couple of cars, but I wouldnt give him any head start. If your car is not an L69 I am going to need to know your specs in order to tell you if youll win.

Posi doesn't add power. TBI cars run anwhere from 15.3 to 16.5 stock. Most well kept auto cars run high 15's/low 16's. It sounds like you have a 305 afterall.

No I am not saying because you have a posi that youll beat him. I was just guessing that because you didnt give us any info and that you have a posi that maybe you have the HO package, but now it sounds like you dont.

no, i have posi 3.73's. the rear end was from some other car.
yeah i guess its a 305. i ren the numbers on the back of the block awhile ago. i used a pice of aluminum foil to get them. then i went to moretec.com i think thats what the web site was called and looked for the numbers and it came back as a 1980-85 305 2 piece main cap. so its a 305 by the numbers. i dont know how much more hp a 600cfm edelbrock carb and performer intake will add, anyone know? thats all i know for sure whats done to it. i was thinking the heads might me mildly ported because it is pretty peppy. and the last owner did lots of work to it. he spun a bearing in the origanal motor which i think is the one in it now. and then he bought a 350 with a rod knock. i think he used the 350 for parts and put the partss that where good on the 305 and then rebuilt it because i dont have any spun bearings or rod knocks now. motor runs fine.

will 350 heads fit on a 305?
and will the bearings out of a 350 work on a 305?

he sold the 350 for $20 to one of my friends. he lied said the motor was a 305 then he ran the numbers and it came back as a 350 so now i know he lied to me alot. like when i bought the car he said it was a 350 and i ran the numbers and it came back as a 305.

Well 350 heads will fit, but why do you want to do that, you will just get less power via lower compression. The 350 bearing will fit your 305 but thta wont do anything for power why would he use used bearing if he rebuilt it??

Not much, if any at all, if the heads and cam are still factory pieces.

Doubtfull. You couldnt tell something like that in that way. odds are, its just the gears. Dont count on those being what he said either.

Why would the bearings thing matter? You ant reuse them anyway.

Does shane have a brother?
