If the Honda is a VTEC I think you might've bitten off more than you can chew. If I remember correctly, the 82's came with the LG4 or the Crossfire, neither of which are very powerful.

youll gonna loose. I almost went out in an octane funeral pire because my brother was trying to beat out a teenager in a volvo station wagon and my brother just barely made it around him with inches to spare between his z28 and the oncoming gas tanker. That lg4 was the most gutless pathetic engine ever.

ok when you start a topic called "me vs honda" don't you think it's time to drop 350/383/400 into your ride?

What he said. But im not ragging you, especially if this is your first ride. I know a lot of people dont have the extra cash to throw down for a good motor. But it wouldnt be a bad idea to start thinking about it, your 100% going to love it if you do.

unless every stock Civic runs 15s or better than you shouldnt have a problem beating him (if you can drive that stick). from what i understand, the only hatch to hit 15s is the SI model (which wasnt availible in 96). my 84 Z28 has the LG4 auto combo and runs consistant 16.0s at 85mph.. .100% bone stock. however, the 82 model is a tiny bit less powerful that my 84, but the car in question has the advantage of a manual trans.

remember guys... he said the Civic only had an intake. thatll add a few hp at best. i cant see this hatch running anything better than mid-high 16s. the LG4 may be slow, but its not as slow as a basically stock Civic. assuming the race is from a stop, and this guy can drive his 4 speed manual, i cant see him losing

alright, first off, its not v-tech, second i've beat him before he had the intake, second, i've beaten stock civics with v-tech(IN MY SLOW A$$ LG4) and third, i can and will outshift this kid without even trying. He's my friend remember and i've seen him drive. Now i'm really going to have to video tape this just to show all of you doubters out there that my little lg4, bone stock, isn't that slow, i did after all take an 87 iroc with tpi, given he ran like ****.

i just graduated highschool this year, so my car is a VERY VERY slow work in progress, but i'm hopefully getting a new job this next week making around 1800 a month, so that engine isn't too far off.

350 ho super deluxe courtesy of salle chevrolet

and a t-56 courtesy of third gen resource are the first steps

350? ask anyone bigger is better... that goes for more then cars to.
you could build a stroked 400 for not much more. 427 sb would be wicked fast with dart heads lopey cam and a 700+ cfm holley carb.. instead of topics like can I beat that honda. you could be posting topics like can I beat that viper?

I had a 305 in mine with tpi that pos had to go in place is now a 383/superram wish I would of went with a stroked 400 tho..

it went from can I beat that sadan to can I beat that porsh or do I need nitrous

Bone stock 82 Z28's with the LG4 ran in the 17's I think lol... 145 hp and I forget the torque. Right now my best time is 15.21 @ 90.18 mph in hot humid weather. I'm not stock though but when it was close to stock, it was gutless.

apparently i'll be doing that new engine a lot sooner

dammit, the race is off and i'm screwed.

I threw a rod on the way home from work this morning

now i need to either fix my engine, which we all know is a waste of time, or get a new one.

my dilema lies in the fact that i have about six dollars in my bank account.

So it ends up, I'm F#*$ed

anyone have a complete 350 in the WA area they would be willing to sell me hella cheap

thanks

I guess If I were you a 350 would be they way to go now. since the 305 is gone and if you look around you can get a used 350 very cheap most 305s go for the same price. you should beable to find at least a smogger 350 that runs for around 200 or less. drop it in and save up for that dream motor or mod it and when it gets too old and worn out pull it hand have it gone through.
