C4 tries his luck
I was cruising on the highway today on my way to work and there had been an LT1 c4 vette behind me for some time and I was wondering if this guy was going to play or what. So he eventually does speed up and get next to me and i don't pay much attention to him. Then i look over and he looks at me and gives me the cockiest smile i'd ever seen. This is when i knew i was going to enjoy this. He gets into it and pulls on me about a car then I decided it was time to show him what his vette didn't have. I got on it and just started reeling him in like a dead fish, it was all too easy. We had gone from around 70 mph and by the time i got to 120mph he was well behind me. And he stayed there until he took his exit. I love showing cocky vette owners up. Nothing brightens my day more.

good job showing him up. he should have known better than to try to race a LS1 from a highway roll. i know a few Vette owners around my area that think they are king chit just because they own a Corvette. fortunately not all Vette guys are like that

Vettes are just like Mustangs. There are so many owners out there alike, that they get a reputation, and it is hard to shake that! There are people who own them that are not like the stereotype (tpivette89) and they are appreciated!

Congrats on showing that Vette owner up. I know how fast those LT1 Vettes can be.

Yea, Vette owners are cocky (most of them). I passed a yellow C5 Vette with a windshield decal that said something and I reved at him. Keep in mind that he is going totally the oposite direction of me. I watched him quickly do a U turn in my rear view mirror and I told my friend "oh my ***, he is turning around to come after me." he cut off about 3 cars just to get next to me. The light was red and we were right in front of a middle school downtown and he guns it from the light getting sideways all in my lane. Good thing I was smart enough not to run him that time. Next we got the next light and I was shaking my head to let him know how much of a dumb *** I thought he was. So he started saying something to me and his wife was in the car so I rolled down my window. I said "what?" and he said "how much money you got?" I was like "you want to run me for money and you have no idea what I got?" and he said "its a mustang! It cant be that fast" so I asked him what he had done and he said "stock" so I said hell I will race him. And I could tell that he was an automatic. So I left the light at 2,500rpms with a slight bark and all he saw was tail lights. I know from about a 70mph roll he would have given me a damn good run but this was from a dead stop and I knew he didn't have enough in that thing stock to keep up with my 4.10s. Needless to say he did another U turn.

He would have killed you from a roll. But nice kill! Those things are VERY strong up top. Anytime i've ever raced a C5 which I've raced 4 of them. One was an automatic vert and we went from a light. He left his TCS on as I could tell when i smoked him off the line while his motor was being bogged down. But once he got rolling he started catching up and would have eventually passed me but I wasn't about to be a hero and race past 100 mph on a residential road. I also raced a 6 speed hardtop from a 60mph roll and forget it. I stayed with it for a few brief seconds then he would just start to walk me. The best C5 race I had was not too long before the C4 race and this guy only managed to get me by a little less than a car length. I was rather happy about that. Seeing as he had exhaust work.

Monkie, how do you launch at 2500 with just a chirp!!! I try that, and my car does like it, but I have to keep on 3/4 throttle or so, and they still spin some (but keep the Rs up)! I have tried 3000 on the 245 streets and that is just too much spin!

I majorly slip the clutch. It took me about 3 months to get down after one of my friends told me about it. He has a 99 Cobra stock making 260rwhp (yes I know that sucks) but he can back it up with a 1.9 60' and a 13.3@104mph. The guy is a damn good driver. So I asked him how he did it and he said slip the clutch all the way and shift around 6,200rpms instead of redline. So now I just slip the clutch instead of dumping it and getting on the gas. But now that I got the SCer I'm sure I will have to learn all over again. Maybe its your tires. I know mine suck but they do alright. All that it is, is you get a style of launching down, know your car, know your tires, and work on it. As always practice practice practice. Its there man, you just gotta find it.

I slip it also, but I should think about where the torque numbers of our cars are! My car is near peak torque there, while yours is at 3000+. I guess I will just have to mount the ET Streets on it and get some traction!

True, I just mean the initial hit at 2500! I wouldn't mind 4.10s but I just found out that the vibration at 3000+ RPM in my car may be serious!!! I may have to find the problem, and hopefully it will perform better if I fix it!!! Then I may build the rear-end, and put on some GT-40s!!!

Maybe its just your tires... Anyways I don't know if I would go with 4.10s if I were you. I have a friend with them in his LX and it is HELL off the line but at about 85mph its like he hits a brick wall.

Come on, don't start a flame war over someone who got banned. The irony of that would be rather humorous, however.

snake32v, no offense but don't come on here, with no sig, and no welcome and post that to members who have been on here a while! Judging by your name, you probably have a Mustang Cobra, and the guys on this board have to get to know (us) Mustang guys before they take any liking towards us. Why don't you introduce yourself, make up a sig (not literally, but do one) and start off here without a flame fest!!!
Not much Cobra lovers here,so don't try to impress anyone either, that will go nowhere! Just be nice!

CrazyHawaiian you're probably one of the funniest people on this site.
Careful though, don't get yourself in trouble.
Monkie...Snake...guy.... calling the mods idiots isn't a good way for them to stop harassing you and keep from getting banned.

Nic is already a moderator at a few mustang sites.
From the behavior displayed by certain (definetly not all)mustang owners on this site, I am sure he has his hands full.
