Crank bolt: can it be reused?

This seems like a simple question...but I've been searching and haven't been able to come up with a concrete answer.

Replacing the harmonic balancer on my son's '86 Firebird this weekend and I'm going to try and get my hands on a new bolt, but in case I can't come up with one is it OK to reuse the existing one? I think this will be at least the second time it's been removed and reinstalled.

Thanks.

If not damaged, sure can.

Re: Crank bolt: can it be reused?

Since it's not a "TTY" (Torque To Yield) bolt, as long as it isn't damaged, I've never had a problem reusing them

From Google;

"What is a torque-to-yield bolt? It is a one-time-use fastener that is designed to stretch during the torquing process (installation). Because of this stretching, the integrity of the bolt is compromised. These bolts cannot and should not be reused due to the stress caused to the bolt during its first installation."
