Ask yourself why a Blueprint 383, with bespoke 195 heads, 10:1 static compression, and a cam that makes 450 HP with Vortec heads and 9.1:1 static compression, only makes 436 HP?
The answer is Blueprint's heads aren't competitive. Worse, you hafta pay for them to get Blueprint's SBC 454 short block assembly, or their BBC 598 short block assembly.
Blueprint also puts their shizzy 195s on their 350s, and unless you want a 7500 RPM race only 350, a 195 is too big for a 350. You can hit 500 HP with any of the top 3 180 heads and a reasonable cam.
In my experience, RHS had some excellent heads that I can no longer find new, anywhere, on par with AFR and Dart. They're the top 3 for flow, and the top 3 for quality.
Coast High Performance specializes in, or is at least known for, Fords, but they have a contract with AFR, and they will sell you whatever you're able to pay for. Their results are excellent.
